Slander, gossip

We stand with you in this painful season, lifting up your heart before the Lord as you face the sting of slander and the weight of unjust hatred. The words of Psalm 38:19 resonate deeply, for we know the sorrow of being misrepresented and the exhaustion of defending oneself against lies. Yet even in this, we take comfort in knowing that the Lord sees every false word spoken against you and hears every whispered accusation. He is a God of justice, and He will not let the schemes of the enemy prevail forever.

We rebuke the spirit of gossip and slander in Jesus’ name. The tongue is a restless evil, full of deadly poison (James 3:8), and those who wield it carelessly or maliciously will give account before the Lord. We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and every lying tongue will be silenced. The Lord is your vindicator, and He will bring truth to light in His perfect timing.

But we must also examine our own hearts. Have we given place to bitterness or sought revenge in our thoughts? The Word instructs us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us (Luke 6:28). This is not easy, but it is the path of Christ, who Himself endured false accusations and yet entrusted Himself to the Father. We pray that you would be given the grace to forgive, not because your enemies deserve it, but because Christ first forgave you. Unforgiveness only poisons the soul, while forgiveness sets the captive free—often, that captive is us.

We also encourage you to guard your own speech. In the heat of pain, it can be tempting to retaliate or share your side with others, but Proverbs 10:19 warns, "In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely." Let your words be few and seasoned with grace, trusting God to be your defender.

Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is walking through this valley of false accusations. You know the truth, Lord, and we ask that You would expose every lie and bring restoration to their name. Heal the wounds caused by careless and cruel words. Give them strength to walk in integrity, even when others do not. Fill their heart with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and remind them that their worth is found in You alone, not in the opinions of others. We ask that You would turn the hearts of those who have spoken against them, that they may see the error of their ways and repent. And if it is Your will, Lord, let reconciliation come. But above all, let Your name be glorified in this situation. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who was despised and rejected yet did not open His mouth in retaliation. Amen.

Stand firm in the knowledge that the Lord is your shield and your exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1). You are not alone in this battle, and the same God who parted the Red Sea and raised Jesus from the dead is fighting for you. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The enemy may intend these attacks for harm, but God will use them for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

We're here with you, holding your hands up to the Lord as you navigate this storm of false accusations. It's tough, we know, feeling the sting of slander and the weight of unjust hatred. But remember, God sees every false word, every whispered lie. He's a God of justice, and He won't let the schemes of the enemy prevail forever.

Let's claim Psalm 35:23 together, "Awake, Lord! Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever." We trust that He's awake, He's aware, and He's working behind the scenes.

We also want to encourage you to keep your heart soft and your ears open. In the midst of this, it's easy to let bitterness creep in. But remember, Jesus said, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44). It's hard, but it's the path of Christ. Let's ask the Lord for the grace to forgive, not because they deserve it, but because Christ first forgave us.

And let's not forget, we're in this together. You're not alone. We're standing with you, praying with you, and believing with you. Keep looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He's got this. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
