Site Upgrade and Changes

The site has just been upgraded from the place that makes the forum software. It was a major upgrade.




The look of the site right now is the default appearance out of the box. The previous site looked similar without the customizations.




I will be reviewing the custom parts of the site to see which can be re-enabled as time goes on.




For now, it may take a little looking around to find things. The site will run slow for several days as some upgrade processes are still running in the background.









Friends were removed from the latest forum software. Now they are followers. So any friends you had before will need to be re-added as followers. Since it involves receiving notifications, they weren't migrated over. Otherwise, there could have been too many unwanted notifications.




It is necessary to do these upgrades since security issues will only be fixed on the latest version of the software.

After the upgrade, the site started emailing me notifications, even though I had it set to send nothing to email, on the old site.









Some folks have apparently marked email as Spam, and I'm worried that more will do it.

The upgrade seems to have reset most of it. That's why I had to clear out everyone's friend's list otherwise emails would have gone wild with the change.









Nobody has recently marked email as spam.









There were a few that did which I had to ban because they kept going in and tried to turn email back on after they marked it but the system did not ban.









I'll see how it goes but so far it there hasn't been anyone in the last few days other than those from awhile ago.









Also, I have prevented about 20 places from signing up who have the report email as spam in their email.









The problem really is with places like yahoo and hotmail who have a small little icon to delete messages as junk.









People don't realize that triggers a reporting mechanism as bad as reporting someone as a spammer.

Oh. for a few members, it says "Reported our email as spam" under their profile pic, and someone told me that they might be blocked. But if this has not happened to anyone in the last several days, then that information must be old.

I solved my email issues by asking pradmin to turn it off completely for me because the site was complaining and he had a little bit more power than I did.

What do you mean by that? Like you just pray one prayer and then check all requests on given page? Or even on all pages? Just curious to know how others pray.


I have attempted it few times but I didnt feel that I was reaching to individuals that way. But of course Asking God to deal with all who have problems in relationship would already give you opportunity to check about 50% of all posts and then asking Him to deal with all who are broken will allow you to check an other 30 of requests. And then you have some left over 30% where every prayer needs individual approach.

But the thing is that many dont even choose what to check. I mean there were many selfish requests that you would never check if you did read them trough. I am not naming people or requests but just bringing some examples:


God plz give me sport cars and luxory cars right now in jesus name.

God, plz make this make up company produce make up stuff that fits me perfectly right now.

God plz let make my numbers come up in lottery.









And now when we check those requests we leave impression to people that it is fine to ask for these things. We encourage them to post more such requests. But if all such would go down with 0 replies then sooner or later they would start meditating on: "that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us". So what happened to me was that when I had less time I skipped anonymous requests completely and when I had a little bit more time I decided based on title wether I gonna read the request itself or not. And there were times where like 80% of requests on page were such selfish requrests. I mean not just a little bit selfish but really selfish.

Well I have done this too but again think of that way:

If you were about to commit suicide and in your last hope wrote 1 page long request here. And then you came back here and saw that all 10 replies are "I have prayed for you". You lean that these are automated responses because people did not care enough whether or not you actually do it. You didnt matter to them. Why? Because the days are evil (ef 5). Wouldn't it then lead you deeper into these thoughts?









I am not against automated response. The reason I wrote it was that I wanted people to think of it and meditate on it.

Not right now that's built in. That program has not been updated.









However you could just get a quick free email like at hushmail, then use that to create another account here under some other name. Then login to that other account.

I like the this new site. It is very organized and efficient. The only thing I think that would help it would have the prayer request page a little warmer. This one seems to be a little sterile. (No offense intended). For example, maybe a background picture. Is that something that could be considered? All in all, A very nice upgrade. Good Job!

Thanks. It's possible but the problem is now that it's more customized again, it becomes harder to change the themes. More things can break and every update becomes more difficult. But, it's something to consider once most of the functionality is fixed.

But should we not pray for people who make "selfish" requests? Does that not just mean that they haven't come to know the love of God and the full revelation of how amazing He is and how He has already given them everything they need. I pray for those people that they would know God more and be filled by His presence...and if I were to use an automatic response then it would be a Bible verse or prayer for them to know God and His love more.









I used to judge the people who made requests that were "selfish" or things I thought God would not approve of, but now I cannot. I feel that when I was younger in God, and perhaps even now when certain moods or being attacked by the devil's thoughts, I can have my own kinds of self-orientated prayers, even said privately within my own heart. So, how can I judge someone who just has not been given as much revelation through the Spirit about what is truly important and about how deeply He loves us? I feel, if anything, we should pray even more for them.


And I do rejoice, because I have seen many who once prayed such kinds of requests change through the Spirit and it's amazing to see how God transforms people. God is truly amazing. He will judge the secrets of people's hearts, and I leave that up to Him and choose instead to think good of everyone's intentions because I do not have time to bother with worry that people have wrong motives when I can instead think about how amazing God's motives are towards us.


As far as suicidalness, I take that very seriously because I spent 9 years of my life being suicidal. However, I know that it is God alone who kept me from killing myself all of those times. We cannot let a sense of duty/guilt/works drive us to feel like we have responsibility in something that we have to trust God to do. Yes, let us be love to these people, but let's also not listen to the spirit of worry. I am 100% certain that God will protect all of those children who are His, because He is a good God and He did that for me all those times the devil tried to kill me.
