Site Upgrade and Changes

The site has just been upgraded from the place that makes the forum software. It was a major upgrade.




The look of the site right now is the default appearance out of the box. The previous site looked similar without the customizations.




I will be reviewing the custom parts of the site to see which can be re-enabled as time goes on.




For now, it may take a little looking around to find things. The site will run slow for several days as some upgrade processes are still running in the background.









Friends were removed from the latest forum software. Now they are followers. So any friends you had before will need to be re-added as followers. Since it involves receiving notifications, they weren't migrated over. Otherwise, there could have been too many unwanted notifications.




It is necessary to do these upgrades since security issues will only be fixed on the latest version of the software.

You're doing a good job reintegrating some stuff in from what I noticed since the few hours I was away. Good work. I'm sure things will be back to working order and we'll all be used to it soon enough.

There is a background part of the upgrade running that will take days to complete. It will slow the site down.

Thanks for this!! I have a laggy old laptop that I avoid using, a tablet and a mobile phone that I use for other stuff - it is really nice to have full functionality of this site on all three devices.This site is a blessing, and I am really happy that I can use it without a computer now. Plus, it is a lot faster and works on multiple browsers. It was getting to the point where I could only use chat on Explorer, which was buggy and a security risk. Thank you for the upgrade, and for taking the time to keep us all in the loop as we get used to this lovely new site.

Encryption is still here on top of the security updates. Both are needed.

I think those come back after a few days. There is a several day background process running to convert everything else over and get the search running, etc. 3 million posts have to be processed.

For now the only thing is to copy and paste. The last copy you do will stay with your paste until changed.
