Pray for my sister

We hear your heart for your sister, and we lift her up before the throne of grace together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood that we are redeemed. If your sister has not yet placed her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw her to Himself. "For there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). We declare that salvation belongs to our God, and we ask that your sister would come to know the truth that sets her free (John 8:32).

Father God, we come before You with hearts full of love and concern for this precious sister. We ask that You would surround her with Your presence, comfort, and peace. If she is facing trials, struggles, or uncertainties, we pray that You would be her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to her in powerful ways, drawing her closer to You and deepening her faith.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for her. If she is making decisions that do not align with Your Word, we ask that You would gently correct her and guide her into Your truth. "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). Help her to walk in the light of Your Word, making choices that honor You and bring glory to Your name.

If there are areas of sin in her life, whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, pride, or anything else, we ask that You would convict her heart and lead her to repentance. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We pray that she would experience the freedom and joy that comes from walking in obedience to You.

Lord, we also pray for her relationships. If she is unmarried, we ask that You would prepare her heart for a godly spouse, a man who loves You and will lead her in Your ways. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22). If she is already married, we pray that You would strengthen her marriage, making it a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Guard her heart from any temptation that would lead her away from Your design for marriage and purity.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or despair that may be trying to take hold of her. We declare that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). We speak life, hope, and victory over her in the name of Jesus. May she rise up in the strength of the Lord and walk in the purpose You have for her.

Finally, Father, we ask that You would use her mightily for Your kingdom. Equip her with Your gifts and fill her with Your Spirit so that she may be a light in this dark world. "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

We trust You, Lord, to work in her life in ways that only You can. Thank You for hearing our prayer, and we believe that You are already moving on her behalf. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We’re joining you in lifting up your sister before the Lord, even without knowing the details. It’s clear she’s on your heart, and that love itself is a gift. In the quiet spaces where we don’t yet see what God is doing, our prayers become a way of holding her life before the One who knows her completely.

While we pray, you might also find a tangible next step: let your sister know, maybe with a simple call or note, that she’s not alone and that you’re thinking of her. Sometimes a single “I’ve been praying for you” can steady a heart in ways we never realize. If she’s carrying a weight she hasn’t yet shared, your openness could make it easier for her to speak.

Father, thank you for this sister and for the bond they share. You see every corner of her life right now, every need, every unspoken worry, every hope. We ask for your presence to be unmistakably near her. Grant her your peace, the kind that holds steady even in uncertainty. Give her wisdom for whatever decisions she faces, strength for her days, and healing in any place she is hurting, whether in body, mind, or spirit. Surround her with people who will be your hands and voice of encouragement. And comfort the one who asked for prayer; reassure their heart that you are at work, even now, carrying what they cannot carry alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. It is God that writes intercession upon men's hearts. All true prayer comes from Him, but especially that least selfish and most Christ-like form of prayer called intercession, when the suppliant forgets all about himself and his own needs, and all his pleading, his tears and his arguments are on behalf of others.

You have brought your ### before the throne of Glory. Now pour out your soul in vehement prayer and say to the Lord, "We will wait upon You." It was a grand prayer, yet, at first, this was the only answer that Jeremiah received to it. Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time! If this is the dark suggestion of the Evil One, "Forsake the closet! Give up private devotion," I pray you, spurn the thought with all your might and still cry, both in the daytime and at night, for the Lord will still hear your prayer!

Sometimes there may be great sin in the prayer, itself! Are not our greatest sins often connected with our holiest things? Sometimes, then, failure in prayer may be caused by sin. I think this is one great reason for unanswered prayer, namely, that it is a chastisement for sin committed or an admonition against sin harbored. Perhaps the hindrance lies not in your ###, but nearer home. Do not abhor us for Your name's sake, do not disgrace the Throne of Your Glory: remember, break not Your Covenant with us. Go straight to God and say, "O Lord, You know what I need!"

Do not give up praying because you feel you cannot pray, but pray twice as much, for you need more prayer and, instead of being less with God, be more! Do not let a sense of unworthiness drive you away. David once said to God in prayer, "Do as You have said." When a man has promised you something that you really need, you take him by the button-hole and you say to him, "Now, you promised to give me that." Get the promise and then offer the prayer, and the prayer will be answered as sure as God is God!

He adds, "my prayer returned into my own bosom." Even if the answer tarries, the exercise itself brings a reward. Earnest intercession will be sure to bring love with it. I do not believe you can hate a man for whom you habitually pray. Pray for one another earnestly, habitually, fervently, and you will knit your hearts together in love as the heart of one man. Intercessory prayer has stayed plagues, it has brought down blessings, it is exceedingly prevalent.

We need to lament more deeply our manifold deficiencies. You will need great Grace for this, my ###. Therefore pray, "Quicken me in Your way." Quickened in private prayer, quickened in all forms of worship. His prayer was answered, but it was not answered in the way he expected it would be. Yet the answer came. So imitate the prayer of Jacob in its humility of spirit. The whole prayer is highly argumentative. True prayer is just pleading with the Most High, spreading our case before Him, and then pressing our suit with all the arguments we can muster! Cease not, therefore, to pray for your ###. Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time.

You ask me to pray for your sister. This I will do, but do not imagine that my prayer alone is sufficient while you yourself remain idle. Are we not taught that we must be watchful ourselves, even as we seek the prayers of the saints? For if you sleep and rely only on the voice of another, what profit is that? The Apostle Paul himself did not disdain the prayers of the church, though he labored more abundantly than all. And you say, "Pray for my sister"? Yes, I will pray, but you must also rise up and make supplication with a watchful heart.

Prayer is a great weapon, an impregnable wall, a tower unshaken. Yet even the strongest weapon fails in careless hands. Lift up holy hands without wrath and doubting. If you come before God while clinging to bitterness or worldly distractions, you turn your own prayer into a sword against yourself. How can you expect mercy for another when your own heart is not right? Therefore, as I intercede, examine yourself. Forgive any offense, drive out resentment, and let your soul be free from the poison of anger. Then our petitions will ascend together with power.

Do not think that because you have asked me, you have no need to labor. Christ Himself prayed, not because He needed it, but to teach us humility and to show that we must never cease from prayer. He ever lives to intercede for us, yet He demands that we also draw near with confidence. So join your voice to mine. Let not your request be a mere handing over of the burden, but a partnership in the fight. For the prayer of a righteous man avails much, but righteousness is not given to the slothful. Wake, then, and together we will seek the throne of grace for your sister, with faith and a pure conscience.

When your heart is burdened for someone you love, bringing that need before the Lord is one of the most powerful things you can do. It's not the length of the prayer or the eloquence that matters, it's the heart behind it. Some of the most effective prayers recorded in Scripture are startlingly brief, arising from a place of deep trust and desperation. So don't worry about how to word it; just pour out your concern for your sister in simple faith.

Remember that the purpose of prayer isn't to get our own wishes granted. It's to invite God to accomplish His will. As you pray for your sister, ask the Spirit to align your heart with His purposes. There may be a timing or a work He is doing in her life that you can't yet see. Persistence in prayer doesn't change God's mind, it positions us to receive what He is already longing to do. So keep lifting her up, day by day, even when you don't see immediate answers. The prayer of faith, offered consistently and earnestly, is powerful and effective.

Intercession is a sacred gift. We have the privilege of carrying another's need before the throne of grace. Just as Paul, confined and unable to travel, continued to minister through his prayers, you are doing genuine spiritual work for your sister right now. Your prayers are not limited by distance or circumstance. The Holy Spirit can minister comfort, guidance, protection, and conviction in ways you could never orchestrate. Keep her before the Lord, not just asking for relief, but for His kingdom to come and His will to be done in her life. And as you wait, let your prayers be mixed with thanksgiving, trusting that God is faithful and that He hears you.
