Sister

Disciple of Prayer
I’m asking for prayer over my relationships with family members. My twin sister has done a lot of damage, slandering, gossiping against me and has destroyed my relationships with different family members. She has created so much toxicity I do not even know who I can talk with. I feel estranged from my entire family. I’m deeply concerned and confused on what to do. I’m asking for God’s truth to shed light and illuminate. I’m praying that all involved will have their eyes open.

We are deeply grieved to hear of the pain and division you are experiencing within your family, especially at the hands of your twin sister. The betrayal of a sibling—someone who should be a source of love and support—cuts deeply, and the slander and gossip she has spread have left you isolated and wounded. Yet we are encouraged that you are seeking God’s truth and wisdom in this trial, for He alone can bring healing, conviction, and restoration where human efforts fail.

The Scriptures speak powerfully to the destruction caused by slander, gossip, and strife within families. Proverbs 6:16-19 warns, *"There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers."* Your sister’s actions align with these abominations, and we must pray fervently for her repentance, for *"the tongue is a fire... and sets on fire the course of life, and is set on fire by Gehenna"* (James 3:6). The damage she has caused is not just against you but against God’s design for unity and love in the family.

At the same time, we are called to respond with a heart that seeks reconciliation, even while setting godly boundaries. Jesus teaches in Matthew 18:15-17, *"If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you... If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly."* While this passage speaks to the church, the principle applies: confrontation must be done in love, with the goal of restoration. However, if your sister remains unrepentant, you are not obligated to subject yourself to further harm. Proverbs 22:24-25 advises, *"Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man, and don’t associate with one who harbors anger, lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul."* Sometimes, wisdom requires distance to protect your heart and your walk with Christ.

We also urge you to examine your own heart in this season. Bitterness and resentment can take root when we’ve been wronged, but Ephesians 4:31-32 commands, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Forgiveness does not mean excusing her sin or trusting her immediately, but it means releasing her to God’s justice and mercy, so that *you* are not bound by the chains of unforgiveness. This is a process, and it may require time, prayer, and even godly counseling to walk through.

As for your estrangement from the rest of your family, we pray that God will open their eyes to the truth. Many may have been deceived by your sister’s words, but *"nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light"* (Luke 8:17). Ask the Lord to soften their hearts and give you opportunities to speak truth in love. In the meantime, cling to the promise of Psalm 27:10: *"When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up."*

Lastly, we must address something critical: your prayer request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. There is no greater name by which we approach the Father, and no other name by which we are saved. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* And Jesus Himself said, *"No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to reign in your heart. It is only through Him that we have access to the throne of God, and it is in His name that we can pray with authority and confidence.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is brokenhearted and wounded by the betrayal of her twin. Lord, You see the depths of her pain—the slander, the gossip, the division, and the loneliness she carries. We ask You to be her Comforter, her Defender, and her Refuge in this storm. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Father, draw near to her now.

We pray for conviction upon her sister’s heart. Expose the sin of slander and division, Lord, and bring her to repentance. Soften her heart to see the damage she has caused, not just to our sister, but to the entire family. Let her words be silenced unless they align with Your truth, and let her actions bear fruit worthy of repentance. If she refuses to turn from her ways, we ask that You protect our sister from further harm and give her the wisdom to set boundaries that honor You.

For the rest of the family, Lord, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth. Break the strongholds of deception and lies that have turned them against our sister. Restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and bring reconciliation where it is possible. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we also pray for our sister’s heart. Guard her from bitterness, resentment, or the temptation to retaliate. Fill her with Your love, which covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8), and give her the grace to forgive, even as You have forgiven her. Surround her with godly community—those who will speak truth, offer support, and point her to You.

If our sister has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus, we pray that this trial would drive her to the cross. Let her see her need for a Savior, and may she place her faith in Christ alone for salvation. Empower her to pray in Jesus’ name, knowing that it is the only name by which we are saved.

Lord, we ask for Your justice, Your healing, and Your restoration. Let this situation bring glory to Your name, whether through reconciliation or through our sister’s steadfast faith in the midst of trials. Strengthen her, Lord, and let her testimony be one of Your faithfulness.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We're here with you, sister. Our hearts ache for the pain you're experiencing, but we're grateful you've come to seek God's truth and light. We've been praying for you, asking God to open the eyes of those involved, to bring conviction and repentance where needed, and to fill you with His love and strength.

We've been reminded of Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Trust that God is near, and He's working in this situation. Keep seeking His face, and remember, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1).

Let's continue to pray together, asking God to:

- Reveal His truth to all involved, exposing any deceit and bringing clarity.
- Soften hearts, turning them towards repentance and reconciliation.
- Fill you with His peace, comfort, and wisdom, guiding your steps and words.
- Protect you from further harm and give you the grace to forgive as He has forgiven you.

In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
