sister in need of anointed healing from Holy Spirit

Your burden for your sister has been heard and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace where our Lord delights to hear the cries of His people.

We are grieved to hear of her great affliction, the water gathered about her heart, the stubborn wound and infection which will not yield to common medicines, the swelling of her leg, the wasting of her strength and the pain and distress which keeps her confined. These bodily diseases are painful and they rightly urge us to seek the Physician, and we do well to bring them to Him who is able to heal both body and soul.

The Scripture tells us that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations, and we have often observed that the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only His fruit but His leaves are full of healing virtue. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation to change the lifeblood and make the nature other than it was before. And the prophet declares that when the Lord dwells with His people the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, for pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the man taken with palsy He first said, thy sins are forgiven thee, to show that pardon and healing are one in His hand. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and His Gospel carries healing power when Christ is taught and trusted.

We would gently encourage you to continue to pray not by speaking to the disease itself or by addressing spirits, but by humble petition to the living God who alone has power to heal. He is sovereign over all affliction and He often works through appointed means. We thank God for physicians and for hospitals, and we encourage your sister to allow the doctors to work for her mobility, to take the medicines given though they are difficult, and to labor through the pain as strength is granted. This is not a lack of faith but a proper use of the means God has provided, while we look to Him for the blessing upon those means.

We pray for her now to that end, that the Lord would be merciful to her.

O Lord our God, Father of mercies, we bow before Thee and ask for this afflicted sister. Thou knowest her frame, Thou seest the fluid about her heart, the infection in her blood and wound, the swelling and weakness of her limbs. Lay Thy hand upon her we pray. If it be Thy will, command health to return to her body, give skill to those who care for her, help her to bear the treatment and to find strength to move again. Above all, grant her pardon through the blood of Jesus Christ, for healing and forgiveness flow together from Calvary. Let Thy Holy Spirit work in her heart to trust wholly in Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Comfort her mind and will and emotions, keep her from despair, and give her hope in Thy promises. And grant to her loved ones faith to rest in Thy wise and loving purposes, knowing that Thy salvation will at last perfectly heal both soul and body for those who are in Christ.

We encourage you both to keep hearing the Word of Christ, for faith comes by hearing, and to tell your case plainly to Jesus as you would to a physician, trusting Him to do what is best. Whether He lifts her up speedily to walk again and to enjoy the pool as she desires, or sustains her through a longer trial, He is able to make her whole and to keep her to the end. May He raise her up, and may her healing, in whatever form He grants it, lead to service and thanksgiving to His name.

We will continue to remember her before the Lord.

Here is the original text:

Your love for your sister and your earnest desire to see her restored have been heard, and we join you in lifting her before the throne of grace.

We grieve with you over the severity of her suffering, the fluid around her heart, the infection that resists treatment, the wound that will not heal, the swelling and atrophy that keep her confined, and the distress of not being able to care for herself. God sees her in that recliner and in that hospital bed, and He hears prayer offered even in silence and weakness. As Scripture teaches, we can sing and pray to God in our hearts whether we are in the market place or on a sickbed, for He hears the cry that no other hears, the cry of a contrite heart.

We bring her to the one true Healer, our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and by whose wounds we have hope of healing. We do not command illness as if by our own power, but we entreat the merciful God who made the body and who gives wisdom to physicians. The skill of doctors and nurses is one of His provisions, and obedience to their counsel is part of the path toward restoration. Just as a sick person who refuses the rules of the physician increases his infirmity, so recovery often requires patient cooperation even through pain. We pray that your sister will be given strength to endure the difficult work of regaining mobility, trusting that Christ's yoke is easy and His burden is light, not because pain is absent, but because He carries us in it and gives rest to our souls.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift this dear sister to You. You know her heart and the fluid that burdens it, You know the infection in her leg and the wound that will not close, You know the weakness of her muscles and the discouragement she feels. Have mercy upon her according to Your great compassion. Grant wisdom and skill to the doctors and all who care for her, guide their decisions about antibiotics and treatment for the infection and the swelling, and use their hands as instruments of Your mercy. If it be Your will, restore her health, heal the wound, reduce the swelling, strengthen her heart and her limbs, and grant her again to stand and walk. Give her grace to persevere through pain and through the daily work of therapy, and give her comfort in spirit, guarding her mind and heart with Your peace. Above all, draw her near to Jesus, that she may know His presence as her greatest healing, for true wholeness is found in Him. Cast away fear and the power of death, for Christ has conquered death by His cross and resurrection, and keep her in Your care both now and forever. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Continue to encourage her to receive the care offered, to take each small step of obedience to her medical team as an act of hope, and to call upon the Lord in every moment, whether aloud or in the quiet of her heart. We will continue to pray that God will grant her strength, healing according to His perfect will, and the comfort of His Spirit.

Thank you for sharing the heavy burden you are carrying for your sister and for asking for prayer. Your love for her and your desire to see her healed and walking again is clear, and it is right to bring her before the Lord.

The Scripture speaks often about anointing. To be anointed means to be set apart by God for His purpose and empowered by Him for that purpose. David was anointed as king long before he actually sat on the throne, and he had to wait for God to bring about what God had promised. In that way he points us to Jesus, who is the true Anointed One. God watched over David and protected him, and His word says to not touch His anointed and to do His servants no harm. That is a reminder that God sees and guards those who belong to Him. Your sister belongs to Him when she belongs to Jesus, and she is under His care even in this very difficult hospital stay.

Healing is also tied to that same Anointed One. When Peter was asked how the lame man was made well, he answered plainly that it was by the name of Jesus that the man stood whole before them. There is power in the name of Jesus. It is not a formula we speak over a sickness, but a confidence that Jesus Himself has authority over every illness, infection, and weakness, and that we can ask the Father in His name for mercy and healing. The Holy Spirit is the one who makes the presence and power of Christ real to us, bringing comfort, strength, and life.

I am praying for your sister in that way. I am asking the Lord to have mercy on her heart and to relieve the fluid that is making it work so hard, to fight the infection that antibiotics have not been able to overcome, to heal the wound in her leg and to bring down the swelling. I am asking Him to restore strength to muscles that have weakened from not being used, and to give her courage and endurance for the painful work of regaining mobility. I am also praying for her dignity and peace as she deals with the difficulty of needing help for basic needs, and for wisdom and compassion for the doctors and nurses caring for her.

Her desire to walk again and to be active is a good and hopeful goal. Part of God's healing often comes through the hands of those He has gifted to provide medical care and through our willingness to cooperate with that care, even when it is painful and slow. Pray that the Lord will give her strength to allow the medical team to help her move, to take each small step, and to not give up when progress feels hard.

We can also pray against fear and the power of death, not by speaking to spirits by name, but by asking the living Christ, who has conquered death, to drive away fear and to guard her life. He alone is our salvation and our hope, and we come to the Father only through Him.

Father, in the name of Jesus I lift this dear sister to You. You know her heart, her lungs, her leg, and every cell in her body. You see her in that hospital bed and You know her longing to get up and walk. Please lay Your healing hand upon her. Ease the strain on her heart, remove the infection, close the wound, reduce the swelling, and rebuild what has been weakened. Give her strength to work with those caring for her and to endure the pain of recovery. Fill her mind and heart with Your peace, and let her know Your nearness through the Holy Spirit. Above all, draw her close to Jesus, the Anointed One, in whom alone we have salvation and life. Amen.

Please keep bringing her to the Lord daily, thanking Him for His mercy, and trusting Him with the outcome. He hears the prayers offered in the name of Jesus.

We want to thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and for allowing us to stand in agreement with you for your sister. We have been lifting her before the Lord and we continue to remember her in prayer.

We have been praying specifically for the fluid retention around her heart and that her heart would be strengthened and relieved of that strain, for the MRSA infection to be completely cleansed from her body and for that wound in her leg to finally heal, for the swelling to go down and for the atrophy to be reversed so that she can rise from her recliner and regain her mobility. We are also praying for wisdom for her doctors and for grace and strength for her as she works through the pain and regains her ability to walk, and for her desire to be able to do water aerobics again to be fulfilled. We are asking the Holy Spirit to release His anointing and healing into her body and to speak life and wholeness over her mind, will and emotions as we resist every spirit of infirmity and death in Jesus Name. We stand on the promise in Jer 30:17 that He will restore health and heal wounds.

We would be glad to rejoice with you. If your request has been answered and your sister has seen improvement in her heart, her leg, or her mobility, please post a praise report and let us all know how God has worked.

If her need does not yet seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer for her complete healing and restoration.

We are praying that God will give you and your sister peace and strength as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We ask all of this in Jesus Name, Amen.
