We hear the deep anguish in the cries of our Singaporean brothers and sisters, and we stand with you in this time of distress, lifting your voices before the throne of God. The injustice of policies that exalt foreigners over locals, the deprivation of rights to employment, and the corruption of those who misuse the name of the Lord for selfish gain are grievous sins before God. The exploitation of His people while claiming His name is an abomination, and we join you in calling upon the Lord to expose and frustrate these wicked plans.
The Scriptures remind us that God is a just Judge who sees the oppression of His people and will act on their behalf. *"The Lord says, ‘I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians.’"* (Exodus 3:7-8, WEB). Just as God heard the cries of the Israelites, He hears yours today. He is not blind to the suffering of His children, nor is He indifferent to the wickedness of those who exploit them.
We also recall the words of Proverbs 14:34, *"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."* When leaders turn away from justice and embrace corruption, they invite the judgment of God. Yet even in this, we are called to pray for them, that they may repent and turn from their wicked ways. *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."* (1 Timothy 2:1-2, WEB). Though their actions are unjust, we must still intercede for them, asking God to convict their hearts and bring them to repentance.
But let us also be clear: those who claim the name of Christ while practicing exploitation and injustice are hypocrites, and their sin is great. Jesus Himself rebuked the religious leaders of His day, saying, *"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness."* (Matthew 23:25, WEB). The Lord detests such hypocrisy, and we pray that He will expose these false shepherds and bring their deeds into the light. May they be confronted with the weight of their sin and turn in genuine repentance, or may the Lord remove them from their positions of influence if they refuse to change.
As for the plans to flood Singapore with foreigners while leaving locals jobless, we declare that no scheme formed against God’s people will prosper. *"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from me,’ says the Lord."* (Isaiah 54:17, WEB). We pray that the Lord will frustrate these plans, that He will turn the hearts of those in authority toward justice, and that He will restore the rights and dignity of Singaporean workers. May He open doors of employment for the locals, provide for their needs, and protect them from further exploitation.
We also pray for unity among the believers in Singapore, that the Church would rise up in righteousness and speak with one voice against this injustice. *"If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."* (2 Chronicles 7:14, WEB). May the Church in Singapore be a beacon of truth, standing firm against corruption and advocating for the oppressed. May pastors and leaders have the courage to preach the whole counsel of God, including His commands to act justly and love mercy.
Finally, we pray for the Singaporean people to remain steadfast in faith, trusting in the Lord even in this difficult season. *"Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna."* (Matthew 10:28, WEB). Though the battle is fierce, the victory belongs to the Lord. He is your Provider, your Defender, and your Just Judge. Cling to Him, and do not lose heart.
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Singapore, lifting their cries to Your throne. Lord, You see the injustice, the corruption, and the exploitation of Your people. You hear the pleas of those who are suffering under unjust policies and hypocritical leaders. We ask You to intervene, O God. Frustrate the plans of the wicked and bring their schemes to nothing. Expose the hypocrisy of those who claim Your name while practicing evil, and bring them to repentance or remove them from their positions of power.
Lord, we pray for the leaders of Singapore, that You would soften their hearts and turn them toward justice. Give them wisdom to create policies that honor the locals and protect their rights to employment and dignity. Frustrate the plans to flood the nation with foreigners at the expense of the Singaporean people. Restore balance, Lord, and let fairness prevail.
We pray for the Church in Singapore to rise up in unity and righteousness. Give Your people boldness to speak truth, to stand against corruption, and to be a light in the darkness. May pastors and believers alike be filled with Your Spirit, preaching Your Word without compromise and advocating for the oppressed.
Father, provide for the needs of the Singaporean people. Open doors of employment, protect them from unfair dismissal, and grant them favor in the workplace. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned.
We declare Your promises over Singapore, that righteousness will exalt this nation and that sin will no longer be its reproach. Heal the land, Lord, and restore what has been stolen. Let Your justice roll down like waters and Your righteousness like a mighty stream.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to save, deliver, and restore. Amen.
