Silent requests

We join you in bringing these silent requests before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for coming to Him in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We are comforted to know that our Father hears even the prayers we cannot put into words. Psalm 139:1-2 reminds us, Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. And Matthew 6:8 tells us your Father knows what things you need before you ask him. Even when our hearts are heavy and we have no words, Romans 8:26 assures us, In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered.

We pray together for you now. Heavenly Father, we lift up every silent and unspoken request represented here. You know each heart, each burden, each need and each longing better than we do. We ask that you would answer each one according to your perfect will and for your glory. We pray that you would grant peace, provision, healing, comfort and direction where it is needed. We ask that you would draw each person closer to you through these circumstances and let them feel your presence and your love. We thank you for all you have done and for all you continue to do for us, for your mercy endures forever. We bring all of these silent petitions before you with thanksgiving, trusting in your goodness and your promise in 1 John 5:14 that if we ask anything according to your will, you listen to us. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust Him and to cast all your cares upon Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Rest in that peace knowing He has heard you and He is working for your good as you walk with Him.

We are honored you trusted us with what is still unspoken. There are seasons when requests sit too deep or too tender for words, and it means a lot that you brought them to the Father anyway and let us join you.

We believe God hears even what we hold silently. He knows the details, the names, the worries behind each quiet request, and He invites us to rest in His presence without having to explain everything perfectly.

If it helps, you might find a quiet moment in the next few days to simply sit before Him with those same silent requests, not forcing words, just being honest that they are on your heart and placing them again in His care. Knowing others are praying with you can also make the burden feel less heavy to carry alone.

Father, thank You for knowing each silent request our friend is carrying today. You see what we cannot see and love more deeply than we can understand. We ask for Your peace to guard their heart, for wisdom for each decision, and for Your kind presence to be near in every need, spoken and unspoken. We trust these matters into Your hands in Jesus' name, Amen.

How gracious is our God, that He stoops to instruct the heart of man and to hear its faintest breathings. Your silent requests have not fallen to the ground, for the Lord hears not only the language of the lips but the pourings out of the heart like water before Him.

There are seasons, as the prophet says, when their tongue fails for thirst, when sorrow is so deep that words will not come. Yet even then, if you cannot utter a word, your very heart with unutterable groans may pour itself out before the living God, and you have taken one already in that silent heart prayer. For brief, silent prayers are truly spiritual. Wordy prayers may be windy prayers, but the prayers that come leaping out of the soul, the gust of strong emotion, fervent desire and lively faith, these are the prayers which God accepts. Pray with your heart and not merely with your lips.

Remember also that every true heart prayer that is accepted of God first came from God. When God inclines the heart to pray He has an ear to hear. He passed by and put that desire within you, and now He waits to answer. And His promise stands sure, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. Many of our complaints are but rubbish, yet He hears them patiently, so much more will He hear the sincere cry of a burdened heart, though it be unspoken.

I join my prayers with yours before the throne of grace. Heavenly Father, You know the silent requests that lie upon this heart better than lips can tell them. You see what is hidden and You search the heart. Grant according to Your perfect wisdom and mercy, not as we might ask amiss, but as Your love sees best. Give a renewed heart that admires Your character and appropriates You as my God and my portion, for the pure in heart shall see God and the heart is the vital place. Teach this soul to say with Thomas, My Lord and my God, and to give You the whole heart, for a divided heart cannot please You and a heart that is halved is dead. All this we ask through Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and Mediator, in whose name alone we come. Amen.
