silent requests

You bring silent requests before the God who searches the heart, and it is good that you do so, for He desires that all should turn to Him and live. Yet remember that prayer without ceasing must be joined to a life of honor, not in words alone but in deeds. If your unspoken petitions align with His will, they are a fragrance pleasing to Him; but if any should seek blessing on what His Word calls sin, whether it be violation of the marriage bed, or any union outside the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, know that He cannot be mocked. His grace and peace are the helm of the soul; without them, we are adrift and will shipwreck our faith.

Be merciful, then, as your heavenly Father is merciful, who feeds even the wicked and gives them time to repent. Pray for those who harm you, that they may be delivered from eternal death, for the bee perishes by its own sting, and revenge brings destruction to the one who harbors it. Whatever your silent requests may be, examine them in the light of His glory: He made you for honor, breathing into you a living soul, crowning you with dignity. Do not then ask for that which would unmake you. Let your unspoken words rise with a pure intention, seeking first His kingdom and the salvation of all through Jesus Christ alone, in whom every prayer finds its answer.

It means a great deal that you would bring these silent requests before the Lord. He hears what is spoken in the heart just as clearly as what is spoken aloud. You are not hiding anything from Him, and you do not need to articulate every detail for Him to understand. He knows what you need before you ask, and the very act of lifting your soul to Him in trust matters more than the words themselves.

When David prayed, What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee, he was not always calm. He was often pressed down by circumstances he could not control. But he learned that prayer is the place where fear gives way to confidence. The burden that feels so heavy now, whether it is something you have taken on yourself or something others have laid upon you, can be cast upon the Lord. He will sustain you. You do not have to wrestle through it alone, and you do not have to pray with perfect clarity. A quiet heart lifted toward heaven is a prayer that reaches the throne.

Do not believe the lie that you must somehow inform God or persuade Him to act. Prayer does not change who God is, but it changes us. It aligns our will with His good and perfect purposes. The deepest prayer you can offer is simply, Your will be done. As you surrender your silent burdens to Him, trust that He will work out what is best. He loves you, and His plan for you is good. So let your requests be made known with thanksgiving, and then rest in the assurance that He has heard you. The prayer of faith ends in praise, because you know that God is faithful to answer.
