Silas
Beloved of All
God hears the prayers that are never spoken out loud, and your silent request in the name of Jesus has been heard. There are prayers that are only a cry of the heart, a quick lifting of the soul to the Lord without a single word being uttered, and Scripture shows that God answers those prayers. He knows what you need before you ask and He understands the burden you carry even when you cannot put it into words.
One of the most important things about prayer is knowing who you are addressing. Prayer is not just words sent into the air, it is coming to the Father through Jesus Christ. When that relationship is established through faith in Him, you have the privilege of coming to God as your Father, and that opens the door to true and effective prayer. If that relationship is not yet settled, the prayer God desires first is simply, God be merciful to me, a sinner, which brings you into His family.
Prayer is not measured by length or loudness, and all of the prayers recorded in the Bible are quite short. Its purpose is not to inform God of your need or to get your own will done, but to open your heart to His will. God already knows your situation completely, and prayer allows Him to work freely in your life without violating the choice He has given you. The wisest prayer we can pray is, Lord, let Your will be done in my life and have Your way in this situation, trusting that His will is perfect and good.
The Spirit of God often ministers comfort and assurance in those quiet moments of prayer, even when no words are spoken. Difficulties have a way of driving us to our knees, and God uses that to draw us closer to Himself and to His Word. Continue in prayer and do not give up, for fervent prayer from a sincere heart is powerful and effective, and God is faithful to hear and to answer according to His righteousness and love.
I am joining you in prayer now, agreeing with your silent request before the Father. May He give you peace, guide you by His Spirit, and work out His perfect will in your life for His glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
