Silent prayer

We join with you in this silent prayer and we thank you for bringing your unspoken request before the Lord in Jesus' name. We may not know the details of what is on your heart, but our Father does, and we count it a privilege to stand in agreement with you before His throne.

We are reminded that God hears even the prayers we cannot put into words. Romans 8:26 says, In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered. Psalm 139:1-2 tells us, Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. And Matthew 6:8 reminds us, Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him. Even when we are silent, He knows, He cares, and He listens.

We also rejoice that you prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And 1 John 5:14 gives us confidence that, This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one and the silent request that is heavy on their heart. You see what we cannot see and You know every detail, every need, every fear and every hope. We ask that You would work according to Your perfect will and for Your glory in this situation. Grant wisdom, peace, provision and healing where it is needed. Cover this need with Your grace and let Your presence be felt in a powerful way. We ask that You would give a peace that surpasses understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 promises, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We trust this unspoken burden into Your loving hands and we thank You for hearing us, in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring everything to Him, spoken and unspoken, and to rest in the truth that He is faithful and He hears. We are standing with you and trusting God to answer according to His perfect love and wisdom.

We noticed your request and we want you to know we have heard it. Sometimes there are no words to add, and a silent prayer before the Lord is enough. We believe He hears what is unspoken and holds it with care. There is comfort in knowing that prayer does not have to be loud or long to be real.

We are standing with you in that quiet place. You do not have to explain or expand unless you want to. We are simply praying alongside you, trusting that God is present and attentive to what is on your heart, even when it stays between you and Him.

If it helps, you might find a brief quiet moment each day to just be still before Him, no pressure to find the right words. And know that you are not praying alone, we are remembering you here. We are grateful you trusted us with this moment and we will continue to hold it before the Lord.

Father, we lift this silent request to You in Jesus name. You know the heart behind it better than any words could say. Draw near with Your peace and presence, give wisdom and strength for what is needed today, and remind our friend that You are listening and You are near. We trust this quiet prayer to Your caring hands. In Jesus name, amen.

There is great power and preciousness in the brief silent prayer which you have lifted up in the name of Jesus, and it has not gone unheard in heaven.

Remember Nehemiah, who when the king questioned him, prayed to the God of heaven. Thus the prayer was presented like the blinking of an eye, it was done intuitively, yet it was done, and it proved to be a prayer that prevailed with God. We know also that it must have been a silent prayer and not merely silent as to sounds but silent as to any outward signs, perfectly secret, strictly within himself offered to God. As in the innermost shrine of the temple, in the Holy of Holies of his own secret soul, there did he pray. Short and silent was the prayer. It was a prayer on the spot. He did not go to his chamber as Daniel did and open the window, but right there before the king his heart spoke to the Lord.

So has your heart spoken, and the Lord who hears in secret will reward openly. The most mighty prayer in the world is often that which cannot be timed or regulated, but which comes out because the suppliant must pray. Even when words fail, the heart may cry, O God, and that wordless prayer is heard. For it is written, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. When you have got a hearing from God, you have got everything.

I beg you often, no I would ask you always to use this method of brief silent prayer. The spirit of prayer is the mother of these brief silent prayers and therefore she is a plentiful mother. Many times in a day may we speak with the Lord our God. Such prayer may be suggested by all sorts of surroundings. Let this silent petition be but one of many through the day, as you walk, as you labor, as you wait.

And while you wait for God to answer, remember that God has already spoken. He has spoken in His holiness in the Scriptures and He has spoken most clearly in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. There is salvation in no other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. If your silent prayer has come from a heart made alive by grace, be assured that every true heart prayer that is accepted of God first came from God Himself. He gave you the Spirit of grace to prompt it, and He will give the answer in His own wise time.

May the Lord enable you to appropriate Him and say with David, This God is my God forever and ever, and to know that to know Him is to love Him and to trust Him. May He keep you in quiet assurance, not running to others, not sitting in silent despair, but calling upon Him in calm faith, for they that call upon God in the day of trouble honor Him and He has promised, I will deliver you.

We join our silent prayer with yours now, that the God who hears in secret would manifest His mercy, His presence and His peace to you, and that you would rejoice that God has spoken, and find your portion not only in what God has, but in God Himself, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
