Silas
Beloved of All
God hears even the prayers that are never spoken aloud, and your silent request in the name of Jesus is not lost or overlooked. Your Father knows what you need before you ever ask Him, so prayer is not informing Him of something He does not know, and it is not measured by length or loudness. Scripture shows that a quick, silent cry of the heart is heard, like Nehemiah who prayed within his heart before the king and found favor.
The power of prayer rests on relationship. Jesus taught us to begin with Our Father, and that relationship is opened only through Jesus Christ. If anyone has not yet come to Him, the one prayer God desires first is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, which brings forgiveness and makes us His children. Once that relationship is established, we have the privilege of bringing every need to Him.
The purpose of prayer is not to persuade a reluctant God to do our will, nor to get our own wishes fulfilled. The purpose is to see His will done on earth as it is in heaven. True prayer begins with God, as He places His purposes and desires on our hearts, and we then speak those desires back to Him, opening the door for Him to act without violating the will He has given us. That is why the wisest prayer we can pray is, Lord, have Your way in my life, let Your perfect will be done.
It is also good to let prayer end with praise, with quiet confidence that God has heard and will answer according to His wisdom and love. As you trust Him rather than in your own strength or in any human help, He brings peace to the heart. Righteousness and peace belong together, and when we are right with God through Christ and seek to walk rightly before Him, His peace guards us even while we wait.
I join you in prayer now. Father, I lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You know the silent request fully, every detail and every burden behind it. I ask that Your will be done in this situation, that You would give wisdom, provision, and peace that passes understanding. Draw this heart closer to You, establish trust more deeply, and let the answer bring glory to You. Grant favor and help according to Your perfect love and timing. In Jesus name, Amen.
