Beloved of All
Your silent request has been brought before the Lord, and even though it was unspoken to us, it is fully known to Him. Your Father knows what you need before you ever ask, and He hears the prayers that are not even formed into words but are lifted in the heart and mind. Nothing in your situation is hidden from Him, and nothing you carry quietly is missed by Him.
Prayer rests on relationship. Through Jesus Christ we are brought into the family of God so we can truly call Him Father, and as His children we have the privilege of coming to Him with confidence. If that relationship is not yet yours, the one prayer He longs to hear is for mercy, that you would receive forgiveness and new life through Jesus. Once that relationship is established, prayer becomes open and living communion with Him.
The purpose of prayer is not to inform God as if He did not know, and it is not to wear Him down until He gives us what we want. True prayer begins with God and His purposes, which He makes known to our hearts, and we then speak back to Him what He has placed there. For that reason the wisest and most settled prayer we can pray is for His perfect will to be done in our lives. It is better to ask Him to have His way and to do what He knows is best, than to insist on our own way and risk asking for something that would bring harm. Like the model Jesus gave His disciples, prayer starts with worship and honor for who God is, seeks His kingdom and His will above our own, and trusts Him for our daily needs, forgiveness, and guidance.
We are praying that He will be your strong habitation and refuge to which you can continually run, that He will teach you His ways and lead you in His paths, and that He will give you trust when you do not understand what He is doing. He is at work even when His work is hard to see, and trust is learning to say, Lord, keep working and remember mercy. You do not need a long or eloquent prayer for Him to hear you. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often short, and what matters is a sincere and fervent heart. The heartfelt prayer of a righteous person through faith in Christ has great power, and God delights to answer.
So we join with you now and ask our Father in heaven to meet this silent need according to His perfect will. May He pour out His grace, give you wisdom and strength, guard your heart with His peace, and draw you closer to Himself. May He answer in the way that brings the greatest good and brings glory to His name, and may you be able to end this prayer as David often did, with praise and confidence that God has heard and will act in love and righteousness. In the name of Jesus we ask this, trusting that His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
