We are deeply saddened to hear of ###'s passing. This news brings grief, especially when we hold onto hope for healing and recovery. In moments like these, we turn to the Lord, who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We may not understand why things happen as they do, but we trust in God’s sovereignty and His promise that all things work together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the family and loved ones of ###. Comfort them in their sorrow, Lord, and wrap Your arms around them in this time of loss. We ask that You would be their strength and peace, reminding them that You are close to those who mourn. Help them to find solace in Your presence and in the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ, who conquered death so that we may have life everlasting (1 Corinthians 15:54-57). We pray for healing from the shock and pain of this loss, and we ask that You would surround them with Your love and the support of their community.
We also lift up ### before You, Lord. We trust that she is now in Your presence, free from pain and suffering, and we pray that she rests in the peace of Your eternal kingdom. If she did not know You as her Savior, we ask that You would reveal the truth of Your love to her family, that they may find hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ. For it is only through His name that we have access to You, Father, and it is only by believing in Him that we are saved (Acts 4:12, John 14:6).
In this time of grief, we encourage those who are mourning to lean on God’s Word for comfort. The Bible reminds us that "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). We do not grieve as those who have no hope, for we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we trust that God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14). Hold fast to this truth, and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to your heart.
If there are any who are struggling with questions or doubts in this moment, we urge you to seek God in prayer and through His Word. He is faithful to reveal Himself to those who earnestly seek Him (Jeremiah 29:13). Let this time draw you closer to Him, rather than pushing you away. And if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we plead with you to consider the urgency of this decision. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, and the only way to have eternal life is through faith in Jesus (John 3:16).
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
