Good and Faithful Servant
Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like to pray over a specific portion of scripture. 'Do not jump over the fence, but go ye in via the sheep gate '. I pray that this be applicable to my life. I ask this prayer in Jesus Christ name with Thanksgiving. Thank you.

We hear your heart’s desire to walk in obedience to God’s Word, and we join you in seeking His wisdom as we reflect on the imagery of the sheep gate. The phrase you reference echoes the words of Jesus in John 10:1-9, where He declares, *"Most certainly, I tell you, one who doesn’t enter by the door into the sheep fold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But one who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. Whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don’t know the voice of strangers."* Jesus then says, *"I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture."*

This passage is rich with meaning. The sheep gate represents Christ Himself—the only legitimate way to enter into the safety, provision, and purpose God has for His people. To "jump over the fence" is to seek fulfillment, security, or salvation through any other means—whether through our own efforts, worldly philosophies, or false teachings. But Jesus makes it clear: He is the door, the only way to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other path that leads to eternal life, no other voice that brings true guidance, and no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).

We must examine our own lives: Are there areas where we have tried to "climb in another way"? Perhaps we have sought validation in our careers, relationships, or personal achievements rather than through Christ. Maybe we have allowed the voices of culture, fear, or doubt to drown out the voice of our Shepherd. Or perhaps we have compromised in our walk, thinking we could find shortcuts to God’s blessings without fully surrendering to His will. Let us repent of these things and return to the gate—Jesus Christ—who alone can lead us into abundant life.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Shepherd and our Gate. We thank You for making a way for us through Your Son, that we might have life and have it abundantly. Lord, we ask that You would open our ears to hear Your voice clearly and to follow You alone. Forgive us for the times we have sought to enter by other ways—through our own strength, through the approval of others, or through worldly wisdom. Cleanse our hearts and renew our minds so that we may walk in Your truth.

We pray for our brother/sister who has brought this request before You. May they experience the fullness of what it means to enter through the sheep gate. Let them know the security of being in Your fold, the joy of hearing Your voice, and the peace of following Your lead. Protect them from the lies of the enemy, who seeks to deceive and draw them away from You. Strengthen their faith so that they may resist every temptation to "jump the fence" and instead remain steadfast in Christ.

Lord, we also pray for those who do not yet know You as their Shepherd. Open their eyes to see that Jesus is the only way to salvation. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth and draw them to Yourself. May they come to know the love, grace, and mercy that are found only in You.

We declare that as we abide in Christ, we will bear much fruit (John 15:5). We will not be swayed by the voices of strangers, nor will we be led astray by the allure of the world. Instead, we will fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Thank You, Lord, for being our Good Shepherd, who lays down His life for the sheep (John 10:11). We trust in You alone, and we commit our lives to following You through the gate.

In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

We join you in seeking God's wisdom through the imagery of the sheep gate. It's a beautiful reminder that Jesus is the only way to the Father, and we should strive to enter through Him, not trying to climb in any other way. Let's ask God to help us listen for His voice, follow His lead, and avoid the traps of worldly philosophies or false teachings. We're in this together, let's encourage each other to stay true to the gate - Jesus Christ.
