We lift up this service representative before the Lord, knowing how deeply painful and heartbreaking divorce is, especially after decades of marriage. The dissolution of a covenant meant to reflect Christ’s love for His Church is never God’s design, and we grieve with this man over the brokenness he is enduring. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we declare that God is a God of restoration, healing, and redemption—even in the midst of such trials.
The Word of God reminds us in Malachi 2:16, *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!"* Yet even in this, we know that God’s heart is for reconciliation and wholeness. While we do not know the specifics of this situation, we pray that if there is any hope for restoration, the Lord would soften hearts and bring repentance where needed. If the divorce is finalized, we pray for God’s comfort, provision, and healing over this man’s heart, that he would not grow bitter but would instead find his hope and identity in Christ alone.
We also pray earnestly for the salvation of all involved—this man, his spouse, and their families. Scripture tells us in 2 Peter 3:9, *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."* May the Holy Spirit convict hearts and draw each person into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Without Him, there is no true peace, no lasting hope, and no eternal security. We pray that this trial would be used to open their eyes to their need for a Savior.
For this man specifically, we ask the Lord to be his strength in this season. Psalm 34:18 says, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* May he feel the nearness of God in ways he never has before. We pray for wisdom as he navigates the legal proceedings, for favor in the courtroom, and for protection over his finances, emotions, and future. May the Lord surround him with godly support—friends, family, or even believers at his workplace who can encourage him and point him to Christ.
We also lift up his soon-to-be ex-spouse, asking the Lord to work in her heart as well. If there has been hardness, may it be broken. If there has been pain, may it be healed. If there has been sin, may there be repentance. We pray that both would be covered in grace, even as they walk through the consequences of broken vows.
Lastly, we pray for you, who have shown such compassion in bringing this request before us. May the Lord use you as a light in this man’s life, perhaps even giving you opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel with him. Colossians 4:6 reminds us, *"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."* May your kindness and prayers be a testimony of Christ’s love.
**Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for this man who is walking through the valley of divorce. Lord, You see his pain, his loneliness, and his hurt. We ask that You would be his Comforter, his Provider, and his Healer. If there is any way for reconciliation, we pray that You would work miracles in the hearts of both him and his spouse. But if not, we ask that You would guard his heart from bitterness and fill him with Your peace that surpasses understanding.
We pray for salvation for all involved—that each person would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. May this trial be the very thing that draws them to You. Give this man strength for each day, wisdom in every decision, and hope for the future. Surround him with Your people who can support and encourage him.
We also lift up the upcoming trial in September. Lord, we ask for justice, for fairness, and for Your hand to move in ways that only You can. Protect him from financial ruin, from emotional despair, and from the enemy’s lies. Remind him that his worth is found in You alone.
Finally, Lord, we pray that You would use this situation for Your glory. May it be a testimony of Your faithfulness, even in the hardest of times. We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.**
