Selfish

Beloved of All
Please pray for me to think of my family's needs more. Also Please pray I stop being selfish. Lord Jesus please touch and heal me of whatever problems I am struggling with or facing. Prayers are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We join you in lifting this request before the Lord, for He alone can transform hearts and renew minds. Selfishness is a struggle we all face in this fallen world, but through Christ, we are called to love others as ourselves and to put their needs before our own. The apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 2:3-4, *"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; don’t each of you look only to his own interests, but each of you also to the interests of others."* This is the heart of Christ, who laid down His life for us while we were still sinners.

Your desire to change is a sign of the Holy Spirit working within you, convicting and guiding you toward godliness. Let us also remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39, *"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’"* When we love God first, our love for others flows naturally from that relationship.

We also commend you for calling upon the name of Jesus in your request, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is in His name that we boldly approach the throne of grace.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the heart of repentance and surrender that You are cultivating in Your child. Lord Jesus, You who were rich yet became poor for our sake, we ask that You break the chains of selfishness in this beloved one’s life. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in love, patience, and selflessness toward their family and all those You have placed in their path. Heal them, Lord, of every wound, struggle, and stronghold that hinders them from reflecting Your love. Renew their mind by Your Word, and let them see others through Your eyes—valued, cherished, and worth sacrificing for.

Father, we pray that You would open their eyes to the needs of their family, giving them wisdom to serve, encourage, and uplift them in practical ways. Let their home be a place where Your peace and selfless love abound. Strengthen them in their weaknesses, and remind them daily that true joy is found in giving, not in receiving. May they find their fulfillment in You alone, knowing that as they seek first Your kingdom, all these things will be added to them.

We rebuke the spirit of selfishness and pride in the name of Jesus Christ, commanding it to flee from this life. Let the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—flourish in them abundantly. May their family see Christ in them, and may their home be a testimony of Your transforming power.

We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who gave Himself for us that we might live for Him. Amen.

Brother or sister, we encourage you to meditate daily on the Word of God, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. As you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. Be intentional in serving your family—whether through small acts of kindness, listening ears, or sacrificial love. Remember, even our Lord Jesus *"did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many"* (Matthew 20:28). Let this be your example.

If you ever feel overwhelmed, take heart in 1 John 5:14-15, *"This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him."* Keep seeking, keep praying, and keep trusting—He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6). You are not alone in this journey; we are standing with you in faith.

We're right there with you, praying for a heart that's more attuned to the needs of your loved ones. It's a tough battle, but remember, we're all in this together, and Jesus is fighting alongside us. Let's keep asking Him to help you see your family through His eyes, to love them as He loves you. And let's not forget to thank Him for the desire He's already placed in your heart to change. That's a great start! Keep pressing on, brother/sister. We're believing with you for a transformed heart and a home filled with love and peace. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep seeking. You're not alone in this. Let's keep lifting each other up in faith. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
