Faithful Servant
I've read several requests lately that ask for forgiveness for their selfish prayers, in reading them I find that they are bringing real needs to us for prayer. I hope we have more of them, more people bringing the needs in their lives before His throne. There is nothing selfish about bringing honest needs to Him. I remember one time when I was going to a pentecostal church, my leg had been hurt and I had hobbled around on it for I think at least two years. One day before a revival I was mowing the yard and heard God tell me that I could hobble around on it for as long as I wanted, or He could heal me if I would just go forward that night and ask for healing. I sat in the pew for awhile and He kept after me, I finally had to stop the service and ask for healing, talk about looking selfish. I limped up there, the pastor and some of the the brothers annointed me with oil. Praise God, I limped up there, and I walked back! A lady sitting there had felt the same calling, she went forward with her hurt elbow and was healed also. She told me later that she kept fighting Him but got the courage when she saw me go up. He wanted to start a healing service that night and just wanted someone to go forward.
It may have looked selfish, but God wants to heal you, He wants to heal you worse than you want to be healed. He can also use that healing to reach others and to start a true revival, it's not selfish to ask, it's a blessing to come to Him. Selfish is when it goes against His word and that is all you are wanting, come to Him in truth and in worship and you will be blessed. Every care, every worry, He wants it all.
My heavenly Father, I thank You for that healing, that was over ten years ago and as You know my leg is doing great. Lord, I thank You for being able to come here and pray for others, and to have them lift my needs to You. You tell us to bring You all our needs, big and small, for Your word tells us You supply all our needs, not just the big ones that we might think we can't take care of ourselves. Father, I pray for all here to open their hearts and to not be afraid to look selfish, there is no greater obedience that we can have than to bring everything to You in prayer. Bless those that come here for prayer, and those who lift those prayers to You. I thank You for the power that there is in prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
