Seeking a suitable man for marriage

Nastead

Disciple of Prayer
I want to find and get married to a matured, emotionally secure and responsible man who can connect to me deeply emotionally and form safe bonding with me. I want him to support me and my children in every aspect and provide a stable, consistent, secure presence. I want to share a life of love and compassion along with true companionship based on peace and wisdom with him. I would also want to feel worthy to earn and have wealth. I still have the problem asking and accepting wealth even in prayers. I want God’s blessing in both these aspects.

We join with you in bringing these deep desires before our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name, asking for His perfect will to be done in your life and in the lives of your children.

We hear your heart for a godly marriage and we affirm your desire for marriage as God designed it, a lifelong covenant commitment between a man and a woman. For this cause a man will leave his father and his mother, and will be joined to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24. Your longing for a mature, emotionally secure, responsible man who will provide a stable, consistent, and secure presence and who will love and support you and your children is a right and honorable desire. We pray that the Lord will lead you to a husband who is a faithful Christian Believer, a man who walks with Christ and will love you as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. Ephesians 5:25. We encourage you to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow Believer, guarding purity and seeking a relationship built on peace, wisdom, and true companionship that honors God. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. Whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. Proverbs 18:22. We pray that as you wait, you will find your deepest emotional security and safe bonding first in the Lord, for God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1, and He alone can fill the places of longing in your heart while He prepares the right man in His timing.

We also lift up your desire regarding wealth and your struggle with feeling worthy to ask for it and receive it, even in prayer. We want to gently correct the idea that your worth comes from wealth or your ability to earn it. Your worth is already established in Christ. We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10. You are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image, and your value is not measured by riches. At the same time, it is right to bring every need before God, including financial provision. The Scripture teaches us to ask, for you do not have, because you do not ask. James 4:2, and Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. Matthew 7:7. Our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. We encourage you to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33, trusting that He delights to provide for His children as you walk in diligence and wisdom, not out of a love of money, for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 1 Timothy 6:10, but out of His loving care for you and your children. Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.

We noticed your request speaks of God's blessing but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved! Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. Romans 10:10.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and lift up our sister and her children to Your throne of grace. Lord, You know her longing for a godly marriage, for companionship rooted in love, compassion, peace and wisdom. We ask that You prepare her heart and prepare the heart of the man You have for her, a mature, responsible, emotionally secure man who loves You above all else and who will love her and her children with Christlike, sacrificial love and provide a stable and secure home. Guard her from any relationship that would not honor You, keep her in purity and wisdom, and lead her in courtship that has marriage as its holy goal. Give her patience and discernment to wait on Your perfect timing, for we know Your thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

Father, we also ask that You heal any place where she feels unworthy to ask or to receive from Your hand. Reveal to her deeply that her worth is found in Christ alone and that Your grace is sufficient for her, for Your power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9. Teach her to ask boldly in Jesus' name, trusting in Your goodness to provide for all her needs and to bless the work of her hands so she may provide for her family and be a blessing to others. Grant her wisdom in stewardship and peace in trusting You as her provider. Draw her ever closer to Jesus, that she may know the fullness of salvation and access to Your presence through Him alone. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We have been holding your two requests before the Lord, and we hear how much weight they carry for you. You want a marriage built on real safety and steadiness, with a mature, responsible man who will love you well and be a consistent, caring presence for your children too. And you want to be able to receive provision without shame, to ask God freely for what you and your family need.

It makes sense those longings go together. A home where hearts can stay open grows out of safety, and safety grows slowly through small, faithful actions over time, keeping promises, listening well, handling conflict with peace and wisdom. And learning to ask for and receive provision can feel vulnerable too, especially if you have long felt you had to earn your worth. You don't have to earn God's care to ask Him honestly.

One gentle next step that may help is to put into words what that steadiness looks like day to day for you and your children, and what wise stewardship of provision would look like in this season. If you have a trusted pastor or older believing friend who knows you, sharing those reflections with them can give you prayerful perspective and help you notice character and consistency clearly as you wait and discern.

Father, we bring our sister to You in Jesus' name. Give her wisdom and peace as she trusts You with her future and her family, heal the places where she feels unworthy to ask, and guide her steps with Your kindness. Provide for her and her children according to Your will and draw her closer to You each day. Amen.

Your longing for a godly and abiding marriage, and for gracious provision for yourself and your children, has been heard and is carried with prayer before the Lord who delights to give good gifts to them that ask Him.

The Scriptures set forth marriage as a holy covenant, the lifelong union of one man and one woman, wherein the two become one flesh. It is a mystery which mirrors Christ and His Church. In such a union there is a sacred reflection of the way the Lord Himself has been a Husband unto His people, setting His love upon them, communing with them in faithfulness, and providing for them with all His goods. Where such a marriage is found, there is mutual delight and complacency, a safe dwelling, and a communion of heart that is tender and true. It is fitting therefore to seek not merely companionship of sentiment, but a man who is first joined to Christ, who walks in the fear of the Lord, for in that fear there is strong confidence and a place of refuge for children. Pray that the Lord may bring into your life, in His perfect time, a man matured in faith, sober minded, emotionally steadfast, responsible and upright, one who will love with constancy, labor with diligence, and lead your household in peace and wisdom. And while you wait, keep the way of holiness, for the bed is undefiled within the covenant, and to live together as husband and wife belongs only within that covenant vow before God. Seek a succession of godliness in your house, that your children may see in your home a picture of Christ's love for His people.

Concerning wealth, you confess a struggle even to ask for it, feeling unworthy to earn and to possess it. Let this be your comfort, that worthiness before God is not earned by our hands but given through the Lamb who was slain. Through His blood you are made worthy to draw near and to ask your Father for daily bread. All provision cometh from His hand, and He would have you ask with childlike confidence, not with a sense of merit, but with humility and thanksgiving. Desire wealth not for vanity, but that you may provide for your household, do good, and steward what He entrusts to you with wisdom and generosity. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, labor faithfully as He gives strength, and trust Him to supply what is needful, keeping your heart content whether He gives little or much.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, who hast been a Husband unto Thy people and hast never failed them, look in mercy upon this Thy servant and her children. Thou knowest her desire for a faithful companion, a man after Thine own heart, who will love Thee supremely and love her and her children with a steady, patient and protecting love. If it be Thy will, prepare such a man and prepare her, and in Thy time bring them together in a holy covenant to walk in love and compassion, in peace and wisdom, for Thy glory. Keep her from all that would lead away from Thy holy way, and establish her household in godliness. Grant also, O Father, that she may know her acceptance in Christ, and give her grace to ask and to receive provision from Thy hand without fear, to earn and to steward with thankfulness that which Thou dost supply. Provide for her and her little ones, give her secure and consistent care under Thy wing, and make her life to abound in the true riches of faith and holiness. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, the Lamb to whom the Church is betrothed, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
