Silas
Beloved of All
We are joining you in prayer for your marriage and we take your request seriously before the Lord.
God sees you both completely. Nothing about your situation is hidden from Him. He looks with compassion and sympathetic understanding on weakness and need, and He alone can bring the kind of healing that no human effort can produce. Just as only a divine act could cleanse a leper, only His grace can truly heal a broken relationship. He has made a way to work that grace when hearts turn to Him.
We pray with the biblical understanding of what marriage is. From the beginning God designed marriage so that two become one flesh. It is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, a compound unity that reflects something of His own nature as one Lord. Jesus affirmed this when He taught that what God has joined together, no one should separate. Your desire to see your marriage saved honors that design, and we ask God to strengthen and protect that oneness.
As we pray, we also ask God to work beyond the surface symptoms. It is natural to pray for relief from pain, conflict, or distance, but the deeper need in every heart and every marriage is forgiveness of sin and a changed heart before God. The most important need any of us has is salvation through Jesus Christ alone. When there is true turning to Him, it shows in repentance, in a willingness to turn from sin, to forgive, and to walk in a new way. That kind of change opens the door to real restoration.
Jesus went about doing only good, healing sickness and teaching His followers to love one another, to forgive one another, to be merciful and not to strive. A marriage is healed as both husband and wife receive His forgiveness and then extend that same love, mercy and forgiveness to each other. We pray that God will help you both to release bitterness, to speak with kindness, to seek reconciliation rather than contention, and to trust Him with faith that reaches out to touch Him even in a crowd of pressures, believing He has power to stop the bleeding and bring wholeness.
We do not want to limit what God can do through unbelief. He is still able to heal and to restore, and it grieves Him when hearts hold back from trusting His power. So we ask Him to do His full work in you.
Our prayer for you is this: Father, in the name of Jesus, have mercy on this marriage. Forgive sin through the cross of Christ and grant to both husband and wife repentance and faith that leads to new life. Heal what is wounded, soften what is hard, teach them to love and forgive as You have forgiven them, and make them one again in heart and purpose. Guard their covenant and give them wisdom, humility and perseverance to walk it out day by day. Above all, draw each of them closer to Yourself, for to belong to You is the greatest healing. Amen.
