Scripture teaches that the beginning of true knowledge and wisdom is reverence for the Lord. That reverence is not a phobia, but a deep respect and awe for who God is, and a settled choice to turn away from evil. To fear the Lord in this sense is to hate evil, to love what God loves and to reject what He calls evil. When that reverence is at the center, it becomes both the starting point and the sum of how we understand life and make decisions. Your worth is not measured by whether you have children or not, or by what others say about you. Your value is given by God who made you in His image and who offers grace through Jesus Christ.
Much of the fear you describe grows when our minds are fixed on threats and on the intentions of others. Fear and faith cannot occupy the same place. When fear is allowed to rule, faith is pushed aside, and when faith in God is strengthened, fear loses its hold. Remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. The psalmist was able to say, though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for You are with me, and again, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear, the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. When we forget the Lord, fear rushes in. When we remember Him, confidence returns.
God desires to give you His peace. There is peace with God that comes first through His grace, and then there is the peace of God that guards the heart and mind. The promise is that He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. That peace is not dependent on circumstances being calm, but on keeping our thoughts fixed on Christ and trusting His presence and His power to protect and deliver. Jesus said, My peace I give to you, and that peace can remain even when the world around is unsettled.
It is also wise to be prudent. We take sensible steps for safety not because we are driven by panic, but because wisdom calls for it. If you have reason to believe there are real threats against you, it is right to seek help from trusted people and from proper authorities, while refusing to let fear dictate every reaction. God is your protector whether you are hidden or in plain view, and He will in His time bring just judgment on those who do evil and persecute others. You do not need to live in dread of sudden terror or of the plans of the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
I am praying for you, that you will know the grace of God that comes before peace, and then experience that peace which passes all understanding guarding your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. May the Lord help you to keep your mind stayed on Him, to hate evil while loving and praying for those who are lost, to walk in the reverent fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom, and to rest in His strength and protection. May He ordain peace for you, quiet your soul, and remind you daily that you are not forgotten, that His thoughts toward you are for peace and not for evil, and that He is with you and will keep you.
