Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden and for showing such faithful love to your neighbor. To care for her soul and to put the good news into her hands is truly to love your neighbor as yourself, to want for her the same comfort and hope you want for yourself, and God is pleased with that kind of love.
We join you in prayer for her now. We ask the Lord to have mercy upon her, to open her heart to understand what you have given her, and to draw her to Himself while there is still time. We pray that she will call upon the name of the Lord and receive the gift He offers.
The Scripture makes a distinction that is important to remember. Physical death is the separation of a person's consciousness from the body, but spiritual death is the separation of a person's soul and spirit from God. The wages of sin is death in that deeper sense, but Jesus tasted that death for every person. He humbled Himself and became obedient even to death on a cross, going from the highest glory to the lowest place, so that He could bear our sins and pay the price we could not pay. Through His death He put out of business the one who had the power of death, that is the devil, and He delivers those who all their lives have been held in bondage by the fear of death.
Because of this, salvation is not far away or hard to reach. It is near, as close as the mouth and the heart. If a person confesses with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in the heart that God raised Him from the dead, she will be saved. Salvation is a gift of God by grace through faith, not by works, and it is great because it is open to everyone who will receive it. There is no other way, and to neglect so great a salvation leaves no escape, but to receive it brings complete forgiveness and life.
God has set before every person the way of life and the way of death, and each must choose. He that has the Son has life. For the child of God, death has lost its sting and the grave its victory, because sin has been removed through Christ. That is why the Lord can say that the death of His saints is precious in His sight, and why we as His children need not fear. The Lord is our light and our salvation, whom shall we fear, and the strength of our life, of whom shall we be afraid.
We pray that your neighbor will see this and choose life. May the Lord graciously show her that He is merciful and righteous, that He hears those who call upon Him, and that He will give victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord. We pray she will take the cup of salvation that Christ offers and call upon His name, and that she will know she will never be separated from God, not for a moment, because Jesus died for her.
Continue to pray for her, to visit her as you are able, and to speak gently of what Jesus has done. God can use your kindness and your prayers to bring her to faith. We are praying with you that she will not be lost, but will be found in Christ and have peace with God.
