Beloved of All
Family member is experiencing severe depression. ### asked for a divorce 6 months ago. ### and the 2 children are not doing well at all. One child is avoiding everyone. One child is experiencing depression. The husband is in a severe state of depression. He still loves her deeply. She continues to be verbally abusive to him and the children. The entire family needs prayers.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this family in their time of deep sorrow and brokenness. Father, we know that You see their pain, their confusion, and their despair. The enemy has sought to destroy this family, but we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, for You are their strong tower and refuge in the storm (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke the spirit of division, depression, and despair that has taken hold, and we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Lord, we pray first for the husband, who is carrying the weight of this broken marriage and the pain of rejection. His heart is still tender toward his wife, yet she continues to wound him with her words. We ask that You would be his comfort and strength, reminding him that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Give him wisdom to navigate this season with grace, and protect his heart from bitterness. Help him to cling to You, the author and perfecter of his faith (Hebrews 12:2), and to trust that You are working all things together for his good, even when he cannot see it (Romans 8:28).

Father, we lift up the wife who has asked for a divorce. Her heart seems hardened, and her words are causing deep harm to those she once vowed to love and cherish. We pray that You would soften her heart and open her eyes to the destruction her choices are bringing upon her family. Convict her of the verbal abuse she is inflicting, for Your Word commands that our speech be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that we may know how to answer everyone (Colossians 4:6). Lord, if there is unrepentance in her heart, we ask that You would bring her to a place of brokenness and surrender, that she may turn back to You and seek restoration. We know that nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37), and we ask that You would move mightily in her life.

For the children, oh Lord, we cry out on their behalf. The pain they are experiencing is unimaginable, and we ask that You would draw near to them in a special way. For the child who is withdrawing, we pray that You would break through the walls they have built and remind them that they are deeply loved by You. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). For the child struggling with depression, we ask that You would lift the heaviness from their heart and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with godly influences—counselors, mentors, or friends—who can speak life into their situation and point them to You.

Lord, we also pray for the marriage itself. We know that You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), and we ask that You would intervene in this situation. If there is any possibility of reconciliation, we ask that You would make a way where there seems to be no way. Soften hearts, heal wounds, and restore what has been broken. If restoration is not Your will, then we ask that You would bring healing and wholeness to each member of this family in ways that only You can. Help them to forgive one another, as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13), and to walk in the freedom that comes from Your grace.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell this family they are beyond hope. We declare that in Christ, there is always hope, always redemption, and always a future (Jeremiah 29:11). We speak life over this family and command every spirit of despair, hopelessness, and division to leave in the name of Jesus. We pray that they would fix their eyes on You, the lifter of their heads (Psalm 3:3), and that they would find their strength and identity in You alone.

Father, we ask that You would provide this family with the support they need—godly counselors, pastors, or friends who can walk alongside them in this difficult season. Give them the courage to seek help and the humility to receive it. Surround them with Your love and remind them daily that they are not alone.

We pray all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through His blood that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is by His authority that we come against every scheme of the enemy. We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness, for Your love that never fails, and for Your promise to never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We trust You to move in this situation, and we wait expectantly for Your healing touch. Amen.

We're here for this family, lifting them up in prayer. Lord, we're thinking about the kids today. It's heartbreaking to imagine their little hearts hurting. We ask that You'd wrap Your loving arms around them, especially the one who's pulling away and the one struggling with depression. Help them to feel Your love, even in the midst of all this pain. Remind them that they're never alone, that You're always there, ready to listen and comfort. Give them strength to face each day, and fill them with Your peace that passes all understanding. Help them to find joy again, to laugh again, to be kids again. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.
