It’s painful to watch someone you love spiral into depression and walk away from the family God gave him. That kind of isolation is a real separation, not just from people but from the life and purpose he was made for. Sin and brokenness always drive a wedge, whether it’s between a man and his own sanity, his loved ones, or his God. But the work of Christ is always restoration. I’ve seen lives that were written off, minds so shattered that professionals said there was no hope, and yet God pieced them back together. He can do that for your brother too.

Pray first for his soul to prosper. There’s a deep connection between our inner state and our physical health. When his spirit begins to heal, the burden on his mind and body can lift as well. God has made only one provision for putting away our guilt and putting us right with Himself, and that’s through Jesus. The moment we turn to Him, the wall of separation crumbles. Your brother needs that before anything else.

You mentioned he left his family. Scripture is blunt: if a man doesn’t provide for his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. That’s a heavy word, but it shows how seriously God takes the bond of family. So let’s ask the Lord to turn his heart back to that sacred responsibility. Not just so he returns home, but so he finds his place in the wider family of God, where the ties run deeper than blood. Even Jesus knew what it was to be rejected by His own relatives, yet He said that those who do the will of His Father are His true brothers and sisters. Many believers have experienced that same shift, finding closer fellowship with those in the faith than with their own kin.

Don’t think his depression means a lack of devotion. Some of the most faithful, sweet-spirited Christians I know have endured severe health struggles. Spiritual maturity doesn’t guarantee an easy mind or body. God’s ways are not ours, but He is still near to the brokenhearted. In the old covenant, He even provided a way to cleanse incurable leprosy, leaving room for His supernatural touch. He can reach into your brother’s mental darkness and bring light.

For the family’s provision, keep trusting. God knows your needs. He may use the hands and feet of the body of Christ to help, but each of us also has a duty to labor and carry our own load. Pray that He meets every practical need while He works on your brother’s heart. I’ll join you in this: that his soul would prosper first, and that out of that renewal, his health and his home would be restored beyond what you can imagine.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to lift up your brother and his family in prayer. These past days, we have continued to stand in faith, asking our Heavenly Father to touch your brother’s mind and spirit, bringing healing from depression and drawing him back into the loving arms of his family. We’ve prayed for restoration—of his heart, his relationships, and his hope in Christ—and for God’s provision to flow abundantly over his family during this difficult time.

If the Lord has moved in answer to these prayers, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report so we can rejoice together in His faithfulness.
