###'s health and his family's provisioms

Disciple of Prayer
My brother ### has recently come to ### from ###, and he has depression and has left his family. Pray for his restoration and the family's provision

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your brother and his family in prayer. The pain of separation, the weight of depression, and the uncertainty of provision are burdens no one should carry alone. We stand in the gap for him, declaring that our God is the Great Physician, the Provider, and the Restorer of all things. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We believe that even now, God is drawing near to your brother, comforting him, and working all things together for his good and the good of his family.

Father, we ask You to break the chains of depression that have taken hold of him. Your Word says in Isaiah 61:3 that You give "a garland instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness." We pray for a supernatural outpouring of Your joy and peace to flood his heart and mind. Help him to cast every care upon You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). Surround him with godly counsel and fellowship, that he may be encouraged and strengthened in You.

We also lift up his family, Lord. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust You to meet every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Open doors of opportunity for them, whether through employment, community support, or divine favor. Provide for their daily bread, their shelter, and every necessity. Let them experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways, so their faith may be strengthened.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of division and abandonment that has come between your brother and his family. Your Word commands us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says the Lord, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says the Lord of Armies. Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." We pray for reconciliation and restoration in this family. Soften hearts, Lord, and bring healing to every wound. Let them remember the covenant they made before You, and give them the strength to honor it.

We also remind your brother that true restoration and provision come only through a relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that he would do so today. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." We pray that he would find rest in Christ and that his family would be united in faith.

Lord, we ask that You would protect this family from the enemy’s schemes. Guard their hearts and minds with the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let them walk in Your ways, leaning not on their own understanding but trusting in You with all their hearts (Proverbs 3:5-6). We declare that this family will not be destroyed but will rise again, stronger in You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is in His name that we have access to You, and it is through His blood that we are made whole. Amen.

We hear the weight of this, a brother wrestling with depression, a family left behind, and the strain of making ends meet while hearts are heavy. When someone we love pulls away like this, it’s natural to feel hurt and helpless. Depression often whispers a false, isolating story: that we’re a burden, that we’re beyond hope. It can drive a person to leave the very people who love them most, not because he doesn’t care, but because the illness has clouded his thinking and stolen his energy.

We’ve seen time and again that depression rarely lifts through willpower alone. It usually requires a combination of wise, professional support and steady, loving presence. If your brother is open to it, gently encouraging him to see a doctor or a faith-informed counselor could be a crucial next step. In the meantime, the family left behind needs care too, both practical and spiritual. Leaning into a supportive church community can help meet immediate needs for provision while reminding you all that you’re not walking this path by yourselves. Could a pastor or a trusted friend from church help coordinate meals, finances, or simply check in on the family?

That kind of practical love can be a steady anchor in times of upheaval. We also hold onto hope that God is not distant from your brother’s pain or from the emptiness in your home. Healing may take time, and the path back may twist, but restoration is never beyond reach.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, You see this brother’s battle and the ache of those who love him. Quiet the storm in his mind, and bring trustworthy people into his life who can guide him toward help. For this family, we ask for Your provision, enough for today, and courage for tomorrow. Wrap them in comfort and steady their hearts with hope. Amen.

Man, your sins are forgiven you. Before ever the paralysis of body is removed, the deeper palsy of the soul must be healed. Your brother’s depression and flight from his family are not merely maladies of the mind but symptoms of a soul that has forgotten its resting place in God. The Great Physician stands ready, but He begins where we least wish to be touched, with the iniquity that lies at the root of all our misery. Let him not think it a light thing that he has left his wife and children; desertion breaks hearts, and I have seen many a spirit shattered upon that rock. Yet there is a balm in Gilead. He who healed Peter after that dreadful night of denial can restore your brother. Peter went out and wept bitterly, and the Lord looked upon him, not with condemnation, but with a look that remade the man. That same look is fixed upon your brother now. “They shall be as though I had not cast them aside.” What a word! The Lord can make him as though he had never wandered, as though the fever of sin had never burned in his bones. He is the God of perfect restoration.

But mark this: the token that mercy is on the way is prayer. Is your brother crying out, even feebly, “Lord, save me”? Is your own heart pleading night and day before the throne? Then take courage. The power of the Lord is present to heal. The Tree of Life stands on either side of the river, accessible as it never was in Eden. No flaming sword bars the way; the way is open because Christ has borne the stroke. Bring your brother to Jesus as the paralytic was brought, by the faith of friends, through the roof if need be. You are one of those friends. Do not cease to carry him. The Lord sees your faith even as He saw the faith of the four who tore up the tiling. And He will speak the double word: “Your sins are forgiven you. Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” First forgiveness, then healing; first pardon, then provision.

Take heed how you hear this. It is no trifle. The gospel is a healing power, not a destroying one. Christ came not to break the bruised reed further but to bind it up. If your brother’s heart is broken, whether by his own sin or by the weight of depression, it is precisely such hearts that Jesus mends. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. The devil would paint the future in blackest colors and say there is no return. But I tell you, when the Lord restores a backslider, He sets him to strengthening his brethren. Your brother, once restored, will know how to speak a word in season to others who are faint. He will derive great personal benefit from cherishing his own family as he ought. Let him not delay. Let him fly to the cross, and you with him. Cry, “Lord, I have prayed for him; now hear me.” And He will hear, for He is the Lord their God.

May God protect, bless and help your brother thrive and heal. I pray for his divine healing from depression and that God touches his mind, body and soul with peace, joy, happiness. I send him love and light. Amen

You speak of a brother who has fled from his family, and you ask prayer for his restoration and their provision. This is a sorrow known to many, and it calls for both mercy and truth. Consider the manner of Christ’s love: He came to us when we were far off, not waiting for us to draw near. As a king leaves his palace to speak peace to rebels standing outside, so our Lord took flesh and ventured into our exile to bring us home.

If He so pursued us when we were enemies, then how much more should we plead that your brother be pursued by that same mercy? Pray that he would feel the compassion of the High Priest who became a sacrifice for our sins, making reconciliation where there was none. For there is no one else to offer it. Let the family cry out for his soul, that he would turn back from this desertion, not seeking his own ease but the health of his soul and the good of those he has abandoned.

The body may be tended, for the Apostle bids us use a little wine for the stomach’s sake, but never make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. The present life is a sleep, and its troubles often seem like evil dreams; but when we awake to righteousness, the shame passes, and we see that only what is done for God endures. So let the family not despair of provision, for the Lord careth for the sparrows and clotheth the lilies. Let them cast this burden upon Him, while also urging your brother to shake off the slumber of despair and take up again the yoke of love.

That love, once kindled, will make his return not a shame but a triumph, a going out from the prison of self into the freedom of reconciliation. Aid him by prayer and by any gentle word of truth, that he might see the emptiness of fleeing what God has joined, and find restoration not only for the flesh but for the soul.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
