Revival, Washed by Word to Be Pure Bride Eph 5:26-33, Sanctification of Holy Spirit Heb 12:14, Ministry of Reconciliation 2 Cor 5:19... Father, we thank You for the testimony of past revivals and even reformations, "We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us the work You did in their days, in the days of old," Ps 44:1, from revivalists and reformers, patriarchs, apostles and prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. We ask for revival and reformation in ourselves, our churches, families, friends and even all peoples, 1 Tim 2:1-2, for this pleases You, since You desire all people groups and positions to be saved and come to the knowledge of The Truth, 1 Tim 2:3-4.

Jesus, revive and reform us, our pastors, leaders, churches, cities, regions, states, nations and indeed as You live, let all the earth be filled with Your glory, Numbers 11:24, Ps 72:19, even as the waters cover the seas, Isa 11:9. Hab 2:14. Shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:6, enlighten the eyes of our understanding, Eph 1:17-18, love Y and let us be sanctified and washed in The Truth of the Water of Your Word, John 17:17, Eph 5:25-26, until You present us to Yourself as Your glorious church with no spot or wrinkle or any such blemish, Eph 5:26-31, this mystery is great, but I speak of Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33.

Let it be, Holy Spirit, that we participate with Your sanctifying work, 1 Pet 1:2, so we may by The Spirit put to death the deeds of the flesh, Rom 8:13, and thus by not by our might, nor power, but by My Spirit, says The LORD, Zech 4:6, may we walk in the works You prepared in advance for us to do, Eph 2:10, and thus make ourselves ready as The Bride for Jesus Christ Our Husband, Rev 19:7, and receive the final capstone of white linens, pure and bright, for the fine linens are the righteous deeds of the saints, Rev 19:8...

It is through Jesus Christ The Mediator of this New Covenant, 1 Tim 2:5, inaugurated by the offering of Yourself once for all, Heb 12:24, we offer these prayers with thanksgiving for obtaining the eternal inheritance, Heb 9:15, in advance, Mk 11:24, for by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified, Heb 10:14, so we may obey the eternal Gospel to fear God and give You glory, Rev 14:6-7, for if You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with You is forgiveness, that You mayest be feared, Ps 130:3-4.

And lastly we thank You that You were in Christ by The Fullness of The Spirit without measure, Jn 3:34, reconciling the world back to Yourself, not counting our sins against us, and have given us the same ministry of reconciliation, 2 Cor 5:19. Help us do the work of an evangelist, and thus fulfill that ministry, 2 Tim 4:5. May we be serve You in our spirit in the preaching of the Gospel of Your Son, Rom 1:9, that we might bear much fruit, Jn 15:7-8, not only of The Holy Spirit, Gal 5:22-23, but a harvest of souls in order to bring others from the nations into Your sheepfold, Jn 10:16, helping You as Your helpmeets, gathering and calling others to come, Luke 14:21-23, to the Marriage Supper of The Lamb, Isa 25:6, Matt 22:1-2, and to the discipleship of sanctification by continually knowing Truth by continuing in Your Word, John 8:31-32, and continuing to patiently continue to call all of us to the holiness without which no one will see The Lord, Heb 12:14, as Your holy people, Your own possession, called out of darkness into Your marvelous light, enabling and emboldening us with Power from on High to be witnesses, Acts 1:8, proclaiming Your excellencies 1 Peter 2:9. Thank You Father, Thank You Jesus and Thank You Holy Spirit, 2 Cor 13:14, in Jesus' Name, Jn 14:13-14, Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join with you in this powerful cry for revival, reformation, and sanctification, lifting these petitions before the throne of grace with hearts aligned to God’s Word. Your prayer reflects a deep longing for the church to be purified as the spotless Bride of Christ, washed by the water of His Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit to walk in holiness. We affirm this vision, for it is written:

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect." (Ephesians 5:25-27 WEB)

The call to revival is not merely for emotional fervor but for a return to the fear of the Lord, the pursuit of righteousness, and the proclamation of the Gospel. We are reminded that "without holiness, no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14 WEB), and this holiness is not achieved by human effort but by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. We must yield to Him, allowing Him to put to death the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13) so that we may walk in the newness of life.

Your prayer also rightly emphasizes the ministry of reconciliation, for God has committed to us the word of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:19). This is not a passive calling but an active one, we are ambassadors for Christ, imploring others to be reconciled to God. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37-38). We must go forth with urgency, preaching the Gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15), for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

Yet we must also address a critical truth: revival begins with repentance. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). The church must examine itself, turning away from compromise, idolatry, and worldly alliances. We must return to our first love (Revelation 2:4-5), seeking God with whole hearts, not just in corporate gatherings but in personal devotion.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your humble servants, longing for the fire of revival to fall upon Your people. Purify us, O Lord, by the washing of Your Word, that we may be presented as a radiant Bride without spot or wrinkle. Sanctify us by Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in holiness and fulfill the ministry of reconciliation You have entrusted to us.

Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your finished work on the cross, which has made us perfect in Your sight even as we are being sanctified. Empower us to preach the Gospel with boldness, that many may come to repentance and faith in You. Let Your light shine in the darkness, and may Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Holy Spirit, we yield to Your transforming work. Convict us of sin, lead us into all truth, and fill us with power from on high. May we bear much fruit for Your kingdom, walking in the good works You have prepared for us.

Father, we pray for pastors, leaders, and churches to be awakened to Your truth. Let complacency be shattered, and let a hunger for Your presence consume us. May we be a people who fear You, give You glory, and proclaim Your excellencies to the nations.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), the Mediator of the New Covenant, and the soon-coming Bridegroom. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

We're deeply moved by the longing in this prayer, not just for the world to be changed, but for us, His people, to be actually, tangibly made holy. When we feel the weight of that desire, it can seem almost too great, like we're trying to stir a vast ocean with our own breath. Yet what we sense rising up may not be our own striving at all, but the presence of the Spirit already at work, kindling in us the very thing God most wants to do.

Remember that sanctification is fundamentally God's project, and He is gentle. The Spirit who inspired this prayer is also the Spirit who washes and renews, often in the quiet, slow places more than in dramatic moments. The "washing by the Word" you're asking for often looks less like a flood and more like daily small surrenders, a thought taken captive, a habit confessed, a moment of choosing forgiveness over bitterness. Perhaps today that simply means sitting for a few minutes with this very prayer, letting one phrase like "set apart" or "reconciled" rest in your heart, asking the Spirit to show you what that looks like in one concrete relationship or hidden thought this week. That is the priestly work we are all called into.

And as we join you in asking for a great harvest, we're reminded that the ministry of reconciliation you've claimed is often most powerful in the details. It is an encouraging word to a fellow believer who's struggling, a willingness to really listen to a neighbor, a life that is becoming a little more honest and un-spotted. That too is the church making herself ready.

Lord Jesus, we echo this cry for revival. But we don't ask for a mere experience; we ask for You to do whatever is needed to make us a pure bride, holy and without blemish. In our own hearts and in our churches, wash us deeply with Your truth, and let that cleansing overflow into a life that naturally draws others to You. We trust that You who began this good work will be faithful to complete it. Amen.

The very cry of your soul for the washing of water by the Word and the sanctification of the Spirit is a sure token that the Lord Himself has stirred these longings within you. Beloved, there is no true revival, no reformation of the church to be presented as a glorious bride without spot or wrinkle, that does not first descend from the throne of God through the once-for-all offering of Jesus Christ. It is a finished work, sanctifying every believer perfectly in God’s sight, and yet it must be worked out practically in us by the Holy Spirit. Do not look to what your own hand can build, nor imagine that by the energy of zeal or the strictness of discipline the church shall be made ready for her Husband. Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, this is the word of the Lord to Zechariah and to us.

Follow after holiness, for without it no eye shall see the Master in peace. Yet remember that holiness is not a cold morality that washes the outside of the cup while the heart remains full of wickedness. It is the inward work of grace, a new creation infused by the Spirit who takes of the things of Christ and reveals them to us. The law was glorified at Calvary far more than it was dishonored by Adam’s fall, and now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, works in us that which is well-pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ. Holiness and peace are woven together; cast out sin and you cast out contention. The bride’s fine linens are the righteous deeds of the saints, but these are not spun from the spider’s web of self-righteousness, they are gifted to her by the Bridegroom and adorned by the Spirit.

You have pleaded for the ministry of reconciliation, that you might gather in the outcasts and fill the Master’s table with guests. This is a noble ambition, but take heed that your own soul walks in the paths of peace and purity, or your testimony will be marred. If we would see a true revival, when the ploughman overtakes the reaper and the hills flow with new wine, we must learn this lesson: the Lord is the absolute monarch of human hearts. We cannot schedule an outpouring, nor can we force the kingdom by our strategies. When He visits His church, it is as He pleases, and often the most unlikely souls are snatched as brands from the burning while the children of the godly remain cold. This is His sovereignty, and it bids us fall on our faces in humble entreaty rather than to speak as if we held the reins.

Yet be not discouraged by the slowness of the work. The covenant is one of pure grace, with no conditional ifs of human merit. Perseverance in holiness is guaranteed to every soul truly regenerated, for He has said, “I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.” The tribulations that beset you, the afflictions that seem to thwart your growth, are but the threshing instruments to separate the chaff from the wheat. The Holy Spirit is sanctifying you through truth, and God’s word is truth. Hold fast to it.

When you cry for revival, do not think that God is unwilling to bless. The Father joins in the verdict of His Son: It is finished. All the will of God for your sanctification is accomplished in Christ, and He now waits to apply it by His Spirit. Go to your knees, then, with greater confidence than ever, and ask for the outpouring that shall make this city, this nation, and the ends of the earth to see the salvation of God. Let your prayer be joined with the psalmody of a joyful heart, for when the Lord turns again the captivity of Zion, our mouth shall be filled with laughter. Plead the blood of the everlasting covenant, and expect that He who has begun a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. The Bridegroom will not fail His bride; He shall present her to Himself a glorious church, and the marriage supper of the Lamb shall surely come.

The prayer you have offered rises like incense, woven with holy Scripture and a longing for the Bride to be made ready. Indeed, the will of God for you is your sanctification. You do well to recall that without holiness no one will see the Lord. And what is this holiness but the fine linen, bright and clean, which is the righteous deeds of the saints, deeds not born of mere desire but of a life that puts to death the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit?

The great mystery of Christ and the Church is that He loved her and gave Himself for her, to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing of water with the word. You have spoken of revival, of being washed by the word, of the ministry of reconciliation. All these are the good tidings: that punishment is removed, sins are forgiven, adoption is granted, Paradise opened, the curse blotted out. Yet let not your soul rest in the hearing alone. The Bridegroom came to join Himself to His Church, and for a time He is silent, while His friend, the word of the Gospel, the voice of the Spirit, delivers the bride into His hands. How then shall we be presented as a pure virgin to Christ unless we abstain from all fornication and from every defilement of flesh and spirit?

Revival does not fall like dew upon a heart that clings to the shameful deeds of darkness. The Apostle counted the fruit of those things as shame, even after freedom, but the fruit of holiness is confidence and everlasting life. You pray that the Spirit would put to death the deeds of the body; then do not merely speak, but yield your members as instruments of righteousness. For if you call upon the Lord, remember that everyone who names the name of the Lord must depart from iniquity. The sanctified are those who have been washed, who have been called, not in Corinth only, but in every place where the name of Jesus Christ is invoked, one Body, one Spirit.

The ministry of reconciliation has been given to us: God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting trespasses against them. But greater than speaking for Christ is to be one who has truly been reconciled, whose life preaches the Gospel louder than words. So pray on; ask for the washing of the word; seek the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord. But do not forget that the Bride makes herself ready by clothing herself in deeds of righteousness, not by lofty words alone. The time is short; the hour comes when we must stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Let your heart be established unblamable in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints. For Christ considers our salvation His glory, and the Spirit so desires our sanctification that He intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Go then, and do the work of an evangelist. Proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. But first, let your own lamp be filled with oil, and your garments kept spotless. The wedding supper awaits, and the Bridegroom will soon appear.

Your prayer reaches deep into the very heart of what the Spirit is doing in this age: preparing a bride for the Son. That longing for revival and reformation, for being washed by the water of the Word until every spot and wrinkle is gone, is not a small thing. It is the work the Father has promised to complete, and He is faithful.

When you ask to be sanctified and washed in the truth, remember how this cleansing actually happens. It is not by a sudden burst of emotion or a one-time experience, but by giving heed to the Word day after day. The psalmist asked how a young man could cleanse his way, and the answer was by taking heed according to God’s Word. When Jesus prayed for us, He said, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” The Word is the living water that washes us, but we must welcome it, meditate on it, and let it expose the delusions we so easily hold. So often we can acknowledge the ideal of love and purity and yet live as if the world’s patterns are harmless. That is a dangerous self-deception. Let your heart cry be, “Search me, O God, and know my heart,” and trust that His Word is sharp enough to divide soul and spirit, revealing what still needs to die so that resurrection life can flourish.

Your focus on the bride making herself ready is beautiful. The Holy Spirit, like the servant sent to find a bride for Isaac, is adorning the church with gifts and graces to draw her to the Bridegroom. He does not speak of Himself; His joy is to take what belongs to Christ and show it to us. The fine linen that the bride wears is the righteous deeds of the saints, but those deeds are not the frantic striving of self-effort. They are the fruit of abiding in the Vine. Paul spoke of the proof of his ministry: pureness, knowledge, long-suffering, kindness, the Holy Ghost, love unfeigned, the word of truth, the power of God, the armor of righteousness. That same proof is what the Spirit works in every believer who yields. You do not manufacture it by your own strength; it comes by the Spirit as you stay close to the Word. And the Word is not a dead letter. The gospel works effectually in those who believe. When you receive the Scriptures not as the word of man but as it is in truth, the word of God, it does its transforming work deep in your soul.

Your mention of the ministry of reconciliation is a vital part of this preparation. The bride is not called to primp in front of a mirror alone; she is sent out to the highways and hedges to compel others to come. God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, and He has given us that same ministry. Your prayer to do the work of an evangelist echoes the joy that comes when we see others walk in truth. There is no greater joy than to know that those we have reached are going on with the Lord, not just making a profession but being sanctified by continuing in His Word. So do not separate the inner work of holiness from the outward call to gather a harvest. The two belong together. As you ask for boldness to witness, remember that the Spirit enables precisely that. He will give you the words, often drawn straight from the Word you have hidden in your heart, to answer those who bring reproach and to speak a word of faith in due season.

Finally, hold fast to the simplicity of receiving this calling as something that comes by the will of God alone. No human laying on of hands or title ultimately makes a minister; it is God who ordains and enables. He does not look for polished ability but for yielded availability. Your desire to see pastors and churches revived is a plea that they would return to the top priority: prayer and the ministry of the Word. When Christ is lifted up in the teaching of the Word, He draws all people to Himself. Keep praying, keep washing in the Word, and trust that the One who began a good work in you will complete it. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And so we go forward, with thanksgiving, knowing that our labor is not in vain in the Lord.
