Revelation about something specific

Thank you for sharing your heart and asking for prayer for revelation and guidance and for greater understanding. That desire to know the Lord and His will more clearly is something God honors, and I have prayed for you in the name of Jesus.

Scripture shows that the word translated revelation means an unveiling, a lifting of what covers something so it can be seen. From its very first verse the book of Revelation tells us it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ, given by God through Christ to His servants and made known through His messenger to John, who faithfully recorded the word of God. It is not a sealed book that cannot be understood. God gave it so His people would see Christ more clearly.

That helps us when we ask for personal revelation and guidance. True understanding does not come mainly as information about our circumstances, but as a clearer sight of Jesus Himself. When He is unveiled to us, we see His character, His purposes, and His way more clearly, and then our path becomes clearer as well. God has given a key for understanding in that same opening chapter, where John is told to write what he has seen, what is now, and what will take place afterward. God is a God of order and clarity, and He wants to bring that same order to your thinking as you seek Him.

Understanding comes by the work of the Holy Spirit. The prophet Isaiah describes the Spirit resting upon the Messiah as the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and might, of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, and of quick understanding. That is the complete work of the Spirit, pictured as seven spirits before the throne, alive in Christ and given to His people. Paul prayed that believers would receive that spirit of wisdom and understanding to know the hope of their calling and the riches they have in Christ. James tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously. You can ask with confidence that God delights to give wisdom to those who seek Him in sincerity and reverence.

As you wait on the Lord for specific guidance, keep looking to Jesus in His Word and in prayer. Ask Him not only to show you what to do, but to show you more of Himself, to shape your heart to want what He wants, and to give you counsel and strength to walk in it. He often guides step by step as we acknowledge Him and trust Him to direct our path.

I join you in prayer now. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one who is asking for revelation and guidance right now. Give a spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and might, of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, and quick understanding. Unveil Jesus more clearly, and in seeing Him grant clarity for the decisions and questions at hand. Lead in the way of righteousness and give peace to trust Your timing and Your will. Help this life to be pleasing to You and to rest in Your faithful care. Amen.

May the Lord strengthen you, keep you close to Christ, and make His will plain to you as you continue to seek Him.
