Beloved of All
Your desire for revelation, guidance and deeper understanding is something God honors, and I am praying for you in the name of Jesus that He will give it to you.
It helps to remember what the word revelation itself means. It does not mean a sealed or hidden book that cannot be understood. It means an unveiling, an uncovering, a removing of the veil so that something can be seen clearly. The book of Revelation is described this way from its first verse. It is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to show His servants what must soon take place, and He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John. Throughout that book John is guided by an angel, instructed at times by elders, and spoken to directly by Jesus Himself, but the central character all the way through is Jesus, first as He watches over His people, and finally as King of kings and Lord of lords.
There is a helpful key given in Revelation chapter 1 verse 19 that unlocks the structure of that unveiling. John is told to write the things he has seen, the things that are, and the things that will take place after these things. That pattern reminds us that God reveals Himself in an orderly way, showing us Christ as He is, speaking to our present reality, and then faithfully showing us what is to come. He is not trying to confuse you. His purpose is to reveal His Son to you.
As He reveals Christ, His deeper purpose for you is to conform you to the image of Christ by His Spirit. When that work is complete, you begin to respond as Jesus responds, to love as He loves and to forgive as He forgives, so that you become His representative, a true and faithful witness of who He is, just as Jesus was the true and faithful witness of the Father.
You asked for guidance now, and for more understanding. My prayer for you is that God will give you the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that you may know the hope of your calling and the riches of your inheritance as a child of God. In this world Jesus said you will have tribulation, and that is different from the great tribulation judgments described later in Revelation, but He has promised to be with you in it and to guide you through it.
Keep seeking Jesus Himself as the center of all revelation. Stay in His Word, ask Him to open your eyes as you read, and bring your specific questions before Him in prayer, trusting that He who unveiled Himself to John desires also to make His will clear to you and to shape your life to reflect Him more each day.
