Revelation about something specific

[Chrysostom]

We join you in prayer today asking our Father for wisdom and understanding. We pray in the name of Jesus that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, so that you may understand more clearly what He has called you to and the greatness of His power toward those who believe.

All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, and true understanding does not come from our own mind or cleverness but from the grace of the Holy Spirit working in us. The wisdom that is from God is not like the wisdom of this world which comes to nothing, but is the wisdom He prepared before the ages for our glory, and He delights to give it to those who seek Him.

As you ask for guidance for this specific matter, we pray that He will make His will plain to you and give you full assurance of understanding. Scripture teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and that virtue is the spring of prudence while wickedness and deceit make the mind foolish and the holy Spirit of discipline will flee from deceit. So we pray that you will keep your heart clean before Him, turn from what is wrong, walk in love and obedience, and let the light of the divine Scriptures be your sure and unerring standard, more reliable than what eyes alone can see.

May the Lord knit your heart together in love, establish you in faith, and show you the next faithful step to take. Where you need clarity now, may He grant it, and where you need patience to wait on His timing, may He grant peace to trust Him and to obey what you already know of His will. We ask that you will grow in knowledge of Christ Himself, in whom all wisdom dwells, and that your life will bear the good works which come from that knowledge.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our wisdom and salvation. Amen.

[Silas]

Your hunger for revelation and understanding and guidance is something God delights to answer, and He has already shown us what revelation truly is.

The word translated revelation means an unveiling, the lifting of wraps so that what was hidden can be seen. The book of Revelation is not a sealed book that cannot be understood. From its very first verse it tells us it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to show to His servants. That unveiling was sent by a messenger, an angel, to John, and at times elders also explain its meaning to him. John bore witness to what he saw and heard.

That is important for your request, because true revelation is not mainly information about circumstances or the future in general, it is God making Jesus Christ known to you. When He lifts the veil and you see Christ more clearly, guidance and understanding follow.

Scripture gives a key to understanding that unveiling in Revelation 1:19, write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be after these things. There is what has been seen, what is now, and what is yet to come. God wants to give you perspective in the same way, to understand what He has already done, what is true in your life now, and where He is leading you next. He does not leave His people in confusion.

How does that understanding come. It is the work of the Holy Spirit. The prophet Isaiah speaks of the Spirit resting upon the Messiah as the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, giving quick understanding. That sevenfold completeness of the Spirit that was upon Jesus is the same Spirit who lives in those who belong to Him. Paul prayed that believers would receive the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of understanding would be enlightened to know the hope of His calling and the riches of His inheritance.

So I join you in prayer that God will do that for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I ask that You give this dear one a spirit of wisdom and understanding. Unveil Jesus more clearly, that in seeing Him, Your will becomes clear. Grant counsel and strength for each decision, knowledge of Your Word, and a heart that reveres You above all else. Guide each step as Your Word is trusted and obeyed, and let Your peace confirm the path. Give clarity where there has been uncertainty, and help to walk in a way that is pleasing to You. Amen.

Keep seeking Him in His Word with prayer, acknowledging Him in all your ways, and trust that He who has begun to unveil Christ to you will continue to direct your path.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you up before the Lord and asking Him to give you the specific revelation you sought and to make His guidance and His will clearly known to you with greater understanding.

We continue to pray that the Father will grant you wisdom and discernment and open the eyes of your heart to see His direction for you, for we remember the promise in James 1:5 that if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all generously. We pray that He will give you clarity and peace and confidence in His perfect will as you seek Him with your whole heart.

If your request was answered and the Lord has shown you the revelation and understanding you were seeking, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still waiting for guidance, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.
