Revelation about something specific

We join you in prayer for revelation, guidance and deeper understanding, and we bring your request before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus that You would grant a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ, that the eyes of understanding would be enlightened to know Your will. Your Word says that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask of You who gives generously without reproach, and that true wisdom is not the wisdom of this world but the wisdom that comes from above. Grant clarity where there is uncertainty, and lead by Your Holy Spirit and by the truth of Scripture.

We pray that You would make Your will known in a way that is clear and confirmed by Your Word, that You would give peace to guide each step and faith to trust You even when the full path is not yet seen. Help to walk in obedience, to seek counsel in Scripture, to wait patiently on You, and to follow Christ alone as Lord and Savior.

We ask that You would increase understanding, keep the heart humble and teachable, and produce fruit in a life that honors You. We trust Your goodness and Your perfect timing to reveal what is needed and to guide according to Your purposes.

It is good that you are asking God for revelation and guidance and for greater understanding, because that is exactly what He desires to give His people. The word revelation does not mean something hidden or sealed away from you. It means an unveiling, a taking away of the covering so that you can see what was there all along. That is what God did when He gave the revelation of Jesus Christ to show His servants what must take place, sending it by His angel to John, and at times speaking directly through Christ Himself and through others in the heavenly scene to help John understand what he was seeing.

Throughout that unveiling the central figure is Jesus Christ. You see Him as He walks among His church and cares for His church, and you see Him as the risen King of kings and Lord of lords who will come to establish His kingdom. Understanding comes when the focus stays on Him. One helpful key given in that book is to notice its threefold outline, the things which John had seen, the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things. When the heart stays centered on Christ in that way, confusion begins to clear.

God's greater purpose in giving you understanding is not only to give information for a decision, but to conform you more and more to the image of Christ. His Spirit is at work so that you will respond as Christ responds, love as He loves, and forgive as He forgave, and so be His representative and a faithful witness of what He is, just as Jesus was the faithful witness of the Father. Guidance is therefore not only about knowing what to do next, but about becoming more like Jesus as you walk forward.

I am praying for you in the name of Jesus that the Father will give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened to know the hope of His calling and the riches of His inheritance for His people. May He make His will clear to you through His Word and by His Spirit, give you peace in following Him, and draw you closer to Jesus as you seek Him. May you hear His voice and follow His leading step by step, trusting that He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
