🔥 Restore Our 1st Love Rev 2:4, Love God with All Our Heart, Soul, Mind, Will, Emotions, Physical Strength & Finances, Mk 12:30, and Love Our Neighbors as Ourselves, Mk 12:31, 1 Cor 13:1-14:3, Phil 2:1-11, Extra Grace to Pray, Study, Worship, Put away Distractions, "Choose the Better Part" as Mary, Luke 10:41-42, Naturally Edifying the Church, Sharing The Gospel, Make Disciples, "Do The Things We Did at First" Rev 2:5... Father, thank You for Your great love, for "We love because You first loved us," 1 Jn 4:19. We ask for a restoration of our first love, Rev 2:4. Help us "repent and do the things we did at first," Rev 2:5, i.e., when we were first saved [1]. Extra grace to pray (in The Holy Spirit) & study the Bible so we can learn His Word and extra grace to pray so we can share the Truth filled with "Power from on high," Acts 1:8, The Holy Spirit, His fruit, Gal 5:22-23, and gifts, 1 Cor 14:1-2, and holiness. Help us "Make Disciples, baptize (live) and teach obedience to all Christ taught, Matt 28:19-20. Protect us from distractions, sin and the evil one, Matt 6:13. Give extra grace and discipline to dig in deeply over this summer and throughout all our Lives. Let us "choose the best part "as Mary, who "listened to Jesus' Teaching in a posture of humility," Luke 10:40-41, which The Lord promised would not be taken away, Luke 10:42. Thank You so much for Your love, Holy is Your Name, in Jesus' Name.

"O Lord, please light the fire That once burned bright and clear Replace the lamp of my first love That burned with Holy Fear," in "O Lord, You're Beautiful," Keith Green, May 7, 1980.

We join you in this deep and beautiful cry to return to our first love and we say amen to your prayer. We hear your heart to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, Mark 12:30, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, Mark 12:31. This is the greatest commandment and the foundation of all we do, and we rejoice that you desire not just to know it but to live it fully with your will, your emotions, your physical strength and your finances surrendered to Him.

We are reminded of the Lord's gentle rebuke and invitation to the church in Ephesus, Rev 2:4 But I have this against you, that you left your first love, and His gracious call in Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works. We love because He first loved us, 1 John 4:19, and true repentance is turning again to Him with our whole heart and returning to those first deeds of simple devotion, fervent prayer, hunger for His Word, worship in spirit and truth, and faithful witness. You have asked for extra grace to pray in the Holy Spirit and to study the Bible diligently, to put away distractions and to choose the better part as Mary did when she sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word, Luke 10:42, and we know the Lord promises that part will not be taken away from us. We also hear your desire to be naturally edifying to the church, to share the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit and to make disciples, and this is the very heart of our calling, Matt 28:19 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matt 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. We are called to pursue love, 1 Cor 14:1, to let love be perfected in us as described in 1 Cor 13, to walk in the humility of Christ described in Phil 2:1-11, and to bear the fruit of the Spirit, Gal 5:22-23, while also earnestly desiring spiritual gifts for the building up of the body, and to wait for power from on high, Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me.

We pray together now for this restoration. Father, we thank You for Your great love and for drawing us to Yourself while we were still sinners. We confess that we have often allowed distractions, busyness, sin and the cares of this world to cool our love for You. Forgive us and restore to us the joy of our first love. Pour out extra grace and discipline upon us to seek You with our whole hearts, to pray faithfully, to study Your Word deeply, to worship You in holiness, and to walk in obedience. Help us to repent and do the things we did at first when You first saved us, to choose the better part like Mary and to sit humbly at the feet of Jesus to hear His teaching. Protect us from temptation and deliver us from the evil one, Matt 6:13, and keep our lamps burning bright with holy fear and tender devotion. Fill us anew with Your Holy Spirit, with Your power, Your fruit and Your gifts, that we may naturally edify the church, speak Your truth in love, share the gospel with boldness, and make disciples who obey all that Christ has commanded. Give us grace not only for this summer but for all the days of our lives to dig deeply into You and to love You with all we are and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We ask all of this in the precious and only name by which we have access to You and by which we are saved, the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who said John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Let Your holy name be honored in us and through us, amen.

We are grateful you shared this honest desire to return to your first love for the Lord and to love Him with your whole life and to love your neighbors well. That hunger itself is a work of His grace in you, and we are praying with you for fresh grace this summer and beyond.

We know it can feel overwhelming to want to pray more, study more, worship more and share more, all at once. One thing that has helped many of us is to think of this less as trying hard for a season and more as training patiently over a lifetime. Even small, regular time with the Lord adds up and shapes us slowly, as we remain works in progress in His hands. Routine does not have to make faith stale, it can make us stable and give space for Him to work.

It may help to choose one simple, sustainable rhythm for the next weeks rather than a long list. Perhaps a set time and quiet place to be with the Lord in prayer and the Word, and putting aside one specific distraction that most pulls you away, and inviting one other believer to walk this with you for encouragement and prayer.

Father, we thank You for first loving us. Restore to our friend joy in Your presence, give grace to linger with You like Mary, to hear Your voice and walk in obedience. Guard from distraction and the evil one, and make our lives fruitful in loving You and loving others. In Jesus name, amen.

Your cry to be restored to your first love is itself a token of mercy, for we love Him because He first loved us, and when the heart begins to mourn its own coldness it is because His love is still at work within it.

There was a time when you first saw the Lord and spiritual life quickened your dead soul, when your first prayer was for mercy and He heard it and blotted out your sin. God remembers that kindness of your youth, the love of your espousals. As a father delights to recall the first broken words of his child, so the Lord takes infinite delight in your first prayers, your first praises, your first turning from sin. He has not forgotten them, and the very fact that you now grieve to have left them is a call to return.

How is that first love lost. It is lost by neglecting communion with Christ, by allowing lawful things and worldly distractions to take the place which Christ alone should hold. When we were in our first love what would we not do for Christ, and what would we not give up. Now how little will content us, and how easily are we drawn aside. When we leave our first works there is no question that we have left our first love. And there is this solemn warning, that the true born child of God when his love declines must and shall smart for it, while the mere professor may go happily along without feeling the loss. Do not sow thorns for your deathbed by remaining in this declension.

The remedy is that which the Lord Himself gives, repent and do the things you did at first. Go back continually to first principles and to the great foundation stone, the cross of Christ. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and let that which is first be first in order of time and affection. Choose the better part as Mary did, who sat at Jesus feet in a posture of humility and listened to His teaching, that part which shall not be taken away.

Therefore we join our prayers with yours and ask the Lord to grant you extra grace according to His abundant love.

Father, we thank You for Your great love poured out in Christ who left His throne and bore our sin that we might live. We ask You to restore to Your people that first love which burned bright and clear with holy fear. Grant repentance where love has grown cold and grace to do the first works again. Give extra grace and holy discipline to pray in the Holy Spirit and to study Your Word with diligence, to worship with a true heart and to put away every distraction that would hinder communion with Christ. Keep us from sin and deliver us from the evil one. Fill us with power from on high that we may bear the fruit of the Spirit in holiness and walk in obedience to all that Christ has commanded. Teach us to love You with all our heart and soul and mind and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves, naturally edifying Your church, sharing the gospel and making disciples. Let our love abound and abide, not merely lamenting its loss but living in the constancy of Your unchanging love in Christ. We ask this in the holy and worthy name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to return to your first love is itself a work of grace, and it is good that you bring it before the Lord so plainly. To love Him because He first loved us, as you quoted from 1 John 4:19, is the foundation of everything else. When the Lord was asked about the greatest commandment He answered, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind, and the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. These two cannot be separated. If love for God grows cold, love for neighbor withers, and envy and distraction take its place. To recover the first is to recover the second.

You have rightly heard the call of Revelation 2:4 and 2:5 to remember, to repent, and to do the things you did at first. Be encouraged that when we come back to an earnest love for God, He does not reproach us for the time we were absent. He does not remember former failures as men do. He receives the returning heart with mercy, if only we approach Him sincerely and cling to Him again and fix our hearts upon His fear.

You ask for extra grace to pray, to study, to worship, to put away distractions and to choose the better part as Mary did when she sat at the feet of Jesus and listened in humility. That better part will not be taken away. To choose it you will need daily discipline. Prayer is a great weapon. Every day is full of rocks and storms and the affairs of life are a constant battle. We need arms and favorable winds. Therefore learn to make God favorable to you by prayer early in the morning and again at night, before you go out to your work, so that you go forth with security. And ask according to His will, for when we pray for what is pleasing to Him, we are heard. The Spirit Himself helps us in this, teaching us to ask for proper things and showing His love by working all these gifts in us.

You also ask for love that is real in deed, not only in words. It is easy to say we love God more than ourselves, but it is shown by works. Many things draw us away from love, especially the love of money and the desire for more, which lays hold of the soul and drags it away, and also vainglory and the pressure of trials. We need God to direct our hearts into His love as a wind fills a sail and carries the boat forward. Pray for that wind. Show your love by despising covetousness, by seeking only what is necessary and spending the rest for the needy, by living here without entanglement so that you may also lay hold of eternal life. And let your love be for God's sake, not only for those who love you in return. The love that is for God loves all people as brothers by nature, loves fellow believers as true brothers in the faith, and pities those who do not yet know Christ, weeping for them and wearing itself out to bring them the gospel.

For the work you described, teaching and making disciples and edifying the church, remember to confirm those who have already received the Word before running to what is new. Be steady in the first things. The prayer of brothers and sisters together can do great things, so do not pray alone only, but ask others to commend you to the grace of God as you go.

Let us pray together for you.

Father, we thank You for Your great love and for making us able to love because You first loved us. Restore to these Your children the fire of their first love. Grant repentance and grace to do the first works again. Pour out extra grace and discipline to pray in the Holy Spirit, to study Your Word diligently, to worship with true hearts, and to put away every distraction and sin that entangles. Teach them to choose the better part as Mary did, to sit humbly and listen to the teaching of Jesus. Fill them with power from on high as promised in Acts 1:8, with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 and with holiness, and equip them with gifts to edify the church and to speak Your truth in love according to 1 Corinthians 13 and 14 and Philippians 2. Help them to love You with all heart, soul, mind, will, emotions, physical strength and finances, and to love their neighbors as themselves. Make them faithful to share the gospel, to make disciples, to baptize and to teach obedience to all that Christ commanded in Matthew 28. Protect them from distraction, from sin and from the evil one as You taught us to pray in Matthew 6:13. Give them perseverance to dig in deeply this summer and throughout all their lives, that they may bear fruit that remains. We ask this in the holy name of Jesus, Amen.
