We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in desperate need of His healing touch. Father, we ask that You would indeed restore the open line of communication between this husband and wife, that they may speak to one another with grace, humility, and love—just as Your Word commands. "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear" (Ephesians 4:29). Lord, soften their hearts toward one another, that they may listen with patience and speak with kindness, not allowing bitterness or resentment to take root.
We rebuke the stubborn will, pride, and every word of agreement this husband has made with the enemy—whether knowingly or unknowingly. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We break every chain of deception, every lie that has taken hold in his mind, and every ungodly stronghold that has hindered this marriage. "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Father, we ask that You would shatter these agreements in the mighty name of Jesus and replace them with truth from Your Word.
Holy Spirit, we invite You to fill this marriage with Your presence. Where there has been silence, bring forth honest and godly conversation. Where there has been anger, bring peace. Where there has been distance, bring intimacy. "Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). Lord, we pray that this couple would seek You together, that they would lay down their own desires and submit to Your will for their marriage. May they remember the vows they made before You—not just to one another, but to You—and may they fight for their marriage as the sacred covenant it is.
We also lift up the wife, Lord, and ask that You would strengthen her in this season. Give her wisdom to speak life into her marriage, patience to wait on Your timing, and faith to believe that You are working even when she cannot see it. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Help her to guard her heart against discouragement and to stand firm in the truth that You are a God who restores.
Father, we declare that this marriage is not beyond Your redemption. You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we believe that You can heal what has been broken. We ask that You would draw this couple closer to You and to one another, that their home would be a place of love, joy, and peace. May their marriage reflect the love that Christ has for His church—a love that is selfless, sacrificial, and unending (Ephesians 5:25).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
