Your pain is deeply felt and your willingness to honor your marriage covenant is precious in the sight of God. The ache of seeing your husband turn toward another person before your marriage has legally ended is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring it honestly before the Lord.
God designed marriage to be more than a partnership. From the beginning He showed that a husband and wife become one flesh, a deep and living unity. The word the Bible uses for one when it says the Lord our God is one speaks of a compound unity, a oneness that holds more than one person together. Marriage reflects that same kind of oneness. Two distinct lives are joined by God into one, and Jesus taught that what God has joined together no person should separate. That is why your desire to stand for your marriage matters. You are honoring what God made to be one.
Scripture also helps us see sin clearly. When King David committed adultery, he later confessed that his sin was ultimately against God, because God had commanded not to take another person's spouse. Adultery is not only a wound against a husband or wife, it is disobedience against God Himself. For that reason the deepest need for your husband is not only to reconsider his feelings, but to see his actions before a holy God, to experience godly sorrow that leads to real repentance.
True turning to God is never only words. When tax collectors and sinners came to Jesus, the evidence that their hearts had changed was a changed life, a turning away from the old way and a restoration of what was broken. So we do not pray for God to bless a relationship that is outside His design for marriage. Sex and living together belong within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and any bond formed outside that covenant is not to be celebrated but repented of and forsaken. We pray instead that God will bring deep conviction, that the ungodly bond with this other woman will be broken, and that your husband will turn from this path and seek forgiveness from God and from you.
Let us pray together.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this marriage to You. You see this wife's sorrow and her faithful heart. You see her husband and the choices he is making. Lord, have mercy. Bring conviction of sin, open his eyes to see that this is sin against You, and grant him repentance that leads to a changed life. Break the power of this adulterous relationship and set him free from it. If it is Your will, restore this one flesh union and heal what has been torn apart. Give this wife strength, peace, and wisdom each day, guard her heart from bitterness, and surround her with godly counsel and support. Help her to walk in forgiveness while also walking in truth, not enabling sin but trusting You with the outcome. Your will be done, and may You be glorified in her life and in her family. Amen.
Continue to stand in prayer, but also keep your heart rooted in Christ and in His Word. Stay connected to wise and faithful believers who can counsel you face to face, care for your practical and emotional needs, and help you maintain healthy boundaries. Trust the Lord to be your strength whether restoration comes quickly or over time, and know that even in this painful waiting He is near, He hears, and He is able to bring healing and new life where there has been brokenness.
