Beloved of All
Your pain comes through so clearly in what you have shared, and I want you to know that God sees the tears you have shed these past months, the regret over years lost to endless content, and the anger that has led you to hurt yourself. You are not alone in this struggle, and you are not beyond His mercy and help.
The Bible teaches that God stands outside of time as we measure it. To Him a thousand years is like a day and a day like a thousand years. He is not limited by our clocks and calendars, yet He has set our lives within time for a purpose. After the flood human life was shortened, and now Scripture says our years are typically seventy or eighty years, and they pass quickly. That is why Moses prayed, teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom, and also prayed, make us glad according to the days in which you have afflicted us and the years in which we have seen evil. God understands both the brevity of life and the weight of wasted years.
You are asking God to literally stretch this year to give back every second you feel you lost, to make time itself run faster for you as if the past had never happened. I understand why you long for that. Regret can feel crushing, and the enemy wants you to believe your life is ruined because of what has been wasted. But Scripture does not promise that God will add literal days to the calendar or manipulate the clock to replay lost time. What He does promise is deeper and more lasting. He promises to redeem and restore.
One of the clearest pictures is in the prophet Joel, where God says He will restore the years that the locusts have eaten. He does not turn back the clock, He redeems what was lost by bringing fruitfulness, purpose and joy out of what remains. We see this in the life of Joseph. After thirteen years as a slave and a prisoner, followed by seven years of abundance and then famine, God gave him sons. He named his firstborn Manasseh, which means God has made me forget my toil. God did not erase those hard years, but He healed the pain of them and brought such blessing that the sorrow no longer defined Joseph. God can do the same for you. He can take the years that feel wasted and use the wisdom, humility and dependence on Him that you have gained through this painful realization to make the days ahead far more fruitful than they would have been otherwise.
God also shows His pattern of restoration through rest and release. In the Old Testament He gave the land a Sabbath rest every seventh year, and every fiftieth year was a Jubilee when debts were canceled and people were set free. The principle is not that He adds more years to work harder, but that He brings rest, forgiveness and a new beginning. Through Jesus Christ alone we have that Jubilee. Your sin, your waste, your addiction can be fully forgiven when you turn to Him in repentance and faith. Godly sorrow, as Paul describes it, leads to real change and clearing, while worldly regret only leads to despair. God wants to comfort you as one who is cast down. He is the God of all comfort, and He does not want you to keep punishing yourself.

God can give you strength to number your days wisely and to use the time He does give you well.

Do not leave this soul in despair, but fulfill Your promise to restore the years the locusts have eaten and to make glad according to the days of affliction. Teach how to number the days that remain, to walk in wisdom, to find freedom from addiction, and to use time for what truly matters. Give healing, hope, and a new beginning, and surround this person with godly help and support. Amen.
