We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with the student and their family. Father God, we know that Your Word commands us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12) and to treat all people with love and respect, for we are all made in Your image (Genesis 1:27). Yet we also see the brokenness of this world, where prejudice and unkindness can take root in hearts that have not been surrendered to You.
Lord, we pray for this student, whose name we do not know but whose struggles we bring before You. Soften their heart, Father, and help them to see that their worth comes from You alone. Give them wisdom and grace in how they respond to the hurtful words and actions of their parents. We ask that You would protect their heart from bitterness and fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We also lift up these parents to You, Lord. Their behavior is not pleasing to You, for You command us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31) and to show no partiality (James 2:9). We rebuke the spirit of racism and discrimination in Jesus’ name, for there is no place for such sin in Your kingdom. Father, we pray that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Open their eyes to the harm they are causing and the ways in which they are falling short of Your glory. May they come to know the transforming power of Your love and grace.
We pray for those who interact with this family—teachers, school staff, and others in the community. Give them wisdom, patience, and discernment in how they respond. Help them to be a light in this darkness, showing Christ’s love even in difficult circumstances. Let Your love shine through them, Lord, so that this family might see You and be drawn to You.
Father, we also ask that You would work in the hearts of those who witness this situation. Let it be an opportunity for believers to stand firm in their faith, to speak truth in love, and to demonstrate the unity we have in Christ, which transcends all human divisions (Galatians 3:28). May this family and this student come to know You, Lord, and may their lives be transformed by Your grace.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, for it is only through Him that we have access to You, and it is only in His name that we find true healing and restoration. Amen.
