Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Your compassion for this creature is a sign of a kindly heart, and such mercy is not without value. Yet I urge you to lift your eyes higher. The danger of which you speak is only of the body, and that is not true danger at all. The real peril is the one that threatens the soul, the trap set by the devil for every living person. You are eager to rescue a cat from temporal death; how much more should you labor to rescue the perishing souls around you, beginning perhaps with the owner now in the nursing home, who faces eternity without the great salvation offered in Christ? Do not neglect so great a salvation while pouring all your zeal into this lesser matter.

God often does not deliver even His saints from bodily death. He permitted Stephen to be stoned, James to be slain, and Peter to be bound in chains, granting them something far greater than physical safety: the grace to despise death and the crown of eternal life. If this cat meets death despite your prayers, do not be scandalized. That is not the worst outcome. The worst outcome is for any soul to die with sin unrepented. Let your prayers, then, be joined to a sober trust in Providence. It is not wrong to ask for mercy for the creature, but do so without anxiety, for our Lord taught us to pray “Thy will be done.”

Let your love for the cat become a tutor for a higher love. As you stir up others to provide a home, remember the far more urgent need of all who are homeless in spirit, lost and without a shepherd. Labor to bring them the gospel. And if you yourself are so touched by the plight of an animal, examine whether you have taken every care for your own soul. Do not cast yourself needlessly into the eternal danger, while you go to great lengths to shield a beast from temporal harm. This is not to condemn your desire, but to elevate it: let every act of earthly rescue remind you that we have a much greater salvation to attend, lest we drift away.

I have lifted up this request before the Lord, and I want to encourage your own heart as you pray. Our God is a rescuer by nature. He told His people long ago, when they were trapped and crushed under a weight they had almost grown used to, “I will rescue you from their bondage. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm.” That same powerful arm has not grown short. He sees this one small, frightened creature, and the looming deadline, with absolute clarity.

So do not hesitate to cry out with the boldness the psalms model for us: “Lord, don’t just stand there, look and act! Deliver this cat from the danger closing in.” There is nothing too insignificant to bring before Him. He cares even about the seeds that catch a ride on a sleeve to find a place to grow, and He cares about every life He has fashioned. We can ask Him to stir the right people, to prod animal charities and tender-hearted neighbors, and to orchestrate details we could never manage.

Pray with expectation that a door will open where right now it looks like there is only a wall. The Lord knows exactly how to bring a message through the right phone, how to soften a reluctant heart, how to turn a moment of apparent inconvenience into a safe home. Then, when the rescue comes, we will give thanks in the great congregation, and right now, in our private prayers, knowing that He hears and that He is Jehovah, the God who brings us and even our small companions out from under heavy burdens.

We are so grateful you shared this urgent need with us and allowed us to lift this precious cat up in prayer. Our hearts have been stirred to intercede for this sweet animal’s safety, and we have prayed earnestly that God would move in mighty ways—softening hearts, opening doors, and stirring compassion in many who might offer a loving home. We asked the Lord to surround this cat with His protection and to raise up animal charities, kind strangers, and every resource needed to ensure a swift and safe resolution.
