Fighting the Devil
True change begins when you examine your heart and life honestly and commit to purity in all things.
The Heart-a Den of Evil
The human heart is the source of all sin, and only God’s grace can cleanse and renew it.
A Remonstrance and a Rejoinder
True faith in Christ saves by changing the heart through love and turning us from sin.
We hear the ache in your heart and we join you in bringing this before the Lord, for He cares deeply about your pain and your longing for reconciliation. We are thankful you have called upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, as Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We rejoice that you are seeking Him in prayer.

We also want to lovingly share biblical truth with you about relationships, because God desires not just that we are happy for a moment, but that we are holy and prepared for a lifelong covenant. In Scripture a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship is not simply a partnership to enjoy, but a courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer. Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God, and we pray for godly marriages rather than simply for relationships to continue. We encourage you to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. That means asking first whether this relationship is leading toward a Christ centered marriage, and whether you both know Jesus as Savior and are equally yoked. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. If you both are believers, then reconciliation must be built on forgiveness, purity and a shared desire to honor God together.

We also must gently address purity, because many dating relationships fall into sexual intimacy outside of marriage, and Scripture calls this fornication. Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18, and For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4. If there has been any sexual sin in this relationship, we encourage you both to repent before God, to receive His forgiveness, and to commit to purity going forward, for God can make all things new and The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17.

We understand you have prayed every day and it feels like nothing changes, and that waiting is painful. God does hear your prayers, but His answer is always according to His perfect will and timing, not only according to our desire. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We are also called to forgive as Christ forgave us, Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Whether or not God restores this courtship, He wants to heal your heart and teach you to forgive and to be forgiven. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28, even when the outcome is not what we expected.

So we pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear daughter to You. You know her sorrow, her missing, her longing, and You know this young man as well. We ask first that Your will be done in both of their lives. Soften both hearts where there is hardness, pride or hurt, and teach them both to forgive one another as You have forgiven us. Heal the brokenness and bring comfort where there is loneliness. If it is Your will, we ask that You would bring reconciliation with a new beginning that is rooted in You, with a clear commitment to purity and to pursuing marriage that honors You, not just a return to what was before but a new creation in Christ. If it is not Your will for them to be together, we ask that You give her peace to accept Your path, that You guard her heart from idolatry of this relationship, and that You lead her to the godly spouse You have prepared in Your perfect time. Help them both to seek You first, to walk in holiness, and to trust Your unfailing love. Draw them both closer to Jesus, that whatever happens they would delight themselves in You and find their future secure in Your hands. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray, but to pray with surrender, saying Lord, let Your will be done. Spend time daily in the Word, seek godly counsel from mature believers, and guard your heart and body for the marriage covenant. Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4, when those desires are aligned with His. We are standing with you and trusting God to write your story for His glory.

We've been holding your request before the Lord. The ache of missing someone every day, especially after a breakup, is real and it makes sense you would long for a new beginning and for both hearts to find peace.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of pain is recognizing that forgiveness and getting back together are not the same thing. Forgiveness is a choice we can make in our own heart to release resentment, even while reconciliation takes two people both willing to rebuild trust together. It can help to untangle those two in your own thoughts so your healing isn't left waiting on his decision.

It might help to take a short pause from reaching out and talk through what happened with one wise, steady person who knows you well, a pastor or mentor, not to get answers right away but to have someone walk with you as you sort what forgiveness and next steps could look like for you.

Father, we lift ### to you. You see her longing and her disappointment. Bring her comfort, clarity and rest as she waits on you. Heal the hurt places, give her wisdom for each decision, and guide both her and ### toward what is good and right in your will. Help her to know she is fully seen and loved by you today. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been laid before the Lord with tender care, and we have heard the ache of a heart that misses one who has gone away. To love and to lose, to hope and to be disappointed, is to know what it is to have bones broken within. It is a dreadful thing to have hope broken and love wounded, and the whole soul reduced as it were to a palpitating mass of pain. Yet our prayer is not merely that your bones may grow quiet and be calm, but that the bones which God has broken may rejoice, for He is the great Surgeon who can make the broken whole again.

There is a forgiveness deeper and more necessary than any forgiveness between creature and creature. The Scripture saith, There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. This is a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is surprising forgiveness, so free and full that it seems too great to be true, and it is complete forgiveness, blotting out the whole debt, and eternal forgiveness through Jesus Christ His Son. He was made sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Whatever your life has been, there is forgiveness with God even for you, and there is forgiveness now, at this moment, for every sinner who will come and put his trust in Christ. If you have not yet cast yourself wholly upon Him alone for salvation, we entreat you to do so, for this is the first and chief reconciliation you need, to be reconciled to God by the blood of His Son.

We understand your desire to forgive and to be forgiven. This is right, for we who have received such manifest forgiveness ought to find it natural to open our hands to forgive another, as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us. We will pray that the Lord will give you both a spirit of true forgiveness, not a mere indifference or a stifling of pain, but a gracious release of all bitterness, and that you may know the peace of being forgiven and of forgiving from the heart.

Concerning the relationship itself we must speak with faithful love. We cannot ask God to bless or to restore a relationship simply as it was, for His Word teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and the intimacies of love belong within that covenant alone. To pray only for a return to former days would be to ask less than God intends for your good and His glory. Rather we will pray that the Lord will heal your broken heart, keep you in purity and wisdom, and lead you both into His perfect will. If it be His will to bring your paths together again in a way that honours Him and looks toward that holy covenant, He is able to order it. If not, He is able to make you whole in Christ, to give you strength where there has been breaking, and to show you that His grace is sufficient.

So we will pray for you, that you may know the certainty of forgiveness in Christ, that your sorrow may be turned to joy in His time, that you may be guarded from despair and kept close to the Saviour. And we will pray for him also, that he may seek the Lord and know the same mercy. Cast your burden upon the Lord and wait upon Him, for He doeth all things well, and what He withholds in love is as much mercy as what He grants.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for trusting us with your pain. I hear how deeply you miss him, how long you have carried this prayer, and how heavy it feels when nothing seems to change.

The good news we proclaim is first of all the reconciliation that God himself has made for us. While we were still enemies, Christ came to bring forgiveness of sins, to remove condemnation, and to bring us into relationship with God as his children through faith in Jesus Christ alone. That reconciliation is the foundation for every other healing in our lives, and it is the prayer God most desires to answer. Before we ask him to restore any human relationship, we are invited to be restored to him, to confess our sins honestly, to receive his forgiveness, and to learn to forgive others as we have been forgiven.

God loves you and he hears your prayers, and he also loves the man you mentioned. Because of that love, we want to pray for you both in a way that honors what God says is good and holy. In Scripture, God presents marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and he reserves sexual intimacy and living together for within that covenant. A dating relationship, even when sincere, is not the same as that covenant. For that reason we will not ask God to simply bring a boyfriend back or to bless a relationship outside his design, but we will ask God to do what is truly best for both of you.

We will pray that God draws you and him each closer to Jesus, that you know his forgiveness and his presence in this season of loss, and that he heals the hurt and disappointment you feel. We will pray that he teaches you both to forgive from the heart, not holding onto bitterness, and that he gives you wisdom, purity, and patience to seek his will above your own wishes. If it is his will for you to be reconciled, we pray that it would be in a way that honors him, with counsel from mature believers, with a commitment to holiness, and with a clear path toward marriage if that is his purpose. If not, we pray he will give you peace, strength to walk forward, and hope for the future he has for you.

It is right to feel sorrow when prayers seem unanswered. God does not always answer by giving us exactly what we ask, but he always answers with what is wise and loving. Sometimes his answer is to comfort us, to grow us, and to redirect our hope more fully to him. Continue to bring your honest desires to him, and also ask him to shape your desires according to his word, to help you live in a way that is separate from what is unclean and pleasing to him, and to trust his timing.

We are praying for you to know how much God cares for you, to experience his forgiveness and to extend forgiveness, and to be guided by his truth and love in every decision about relationships. If you can, share this burden with a trusted pastor or mature Christian in your local church who can walk with you, encourage you, and help you seek God faithfully in the days ahead.
