Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in lifting ### up to the Lord who formed his body and knows every part of it. We ask our merciful Father, the true Physician, to lay his healing hand upon ###'s stomach and intestines, to calm every inflammation, to ease every spasm, and to take away pain and discomfort. We pray that God would restore the natural harmony of his digestive system, grant him complete relief and deep restoring rest, and fill him with the peace that surpasses all understanding as he waits on the Lord.
Scripture reminds us that even faithful servants knew bodily weakness. Paul counseled Timothy to use a little wine for his stomach and his frequent infirmities, showing that God is honored when we humbly use the help of physicians and proper care for the body. The apostle could have healed him at once, yet the Lord allowed the infirmity to remain for a time to keep him humble and to teach us not to be troubled when good people suffer in the body, knowing that those who do great things for God share our same nature.
Pain and sickness belong to this present life in a fallen world, and they come to all by nature. God in his wisdom often works through ordinary means, through wise medical counsel, proper nourishment and rest, to bring healing. So we encourage you to continue to seek good medical care alongside prayer, trusting that every helpful remedy is a gift from his hand.
We also pray that this trial, though painful, would draw ### closer to Christ, strengthening his soul even as his body is cared for, and that the Lord would use it for his good and for his glory. May the Lord in his mercy grant healing according to his perfect will, sustain ### with patience, and comfort all who love him and pray for him.
