We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear soul who is carrying the weight of past abuse and trauma. Father God, we know that the wounds of such pain run deep, and the journey toward healing is often long and wearying. But we also know that You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who restores. We ask, in the mighty name of Jesus, that You would pour out Your strength upon this one who is feeling weak and weary.
The Word of God tells us in Isaiah 40:31, "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Lord, we claim this promise over this precious child of Yours. Renew their strength when it feels depleted. Lift them up when they feel like they cannot go on. Remind them that Your power is made perfect in their weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
We also know, Father, that trauma can leave scars not just on the body, but on the mind and spirit. We pray that You would bring healing to every broken place. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Lord, we ask that You would bind up these wounds with Your love and peace. Replace the lies of the enemy—lies that may tell them they are unworthy, unloved, or beyond repair—with the truth of Your Word. Remind them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for their welfare and not for evil (Jeremiah 29:11), and that nothing can separate them from Your love (Romans 8:38-39).
We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that may be trying to take hold. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that they might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that no weapon formed against this one will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in the authority of Jesus’ name to break every chain of oppression. We pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who is the Comforter and the Helper (John 14:26). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we also ask that You would surround them with godly community—believers who will walk alongside them, pray for them, and encourage them in their faith. Healing is not meant to be walked alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." Provide them with safe, trustworthy people who will point them back to You.
And Father, we pray for resilience. Life’s struggles can feel overwhelming, but we know that You use all things for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). Even in the midst of pain, You are working. Help them to see Your hand at work, even in the small things. Teach them to lean on You, to cast their cares upon You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). May they find rest in You, knowing that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We also want to gently remind this dear one that healing is a journey, and it is okay to take it one step at a time. There is no shame in seeking professional help, such as Christian counseling, to work through the pain. The Lord often uses the wisdom and skills of others to bring about restoration. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."
Above all, we pray that this one would draw nearer to You, Jesus. You are the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one (Luke 15:4). You are the One who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). You know their pain intimately, and You are with them in the midst of it. May they feel Your presence in a tangible way, and may they find hope in the promise that one day, You will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain (Revelation 21:4).
We love You, Lord, and we trust You with this precious life. Strengthen them, heal them, and restore them fully for Your glory. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
