Blessing, Honor, MORE GRACE, through humility, James 4:6, for Patriarchal and Matriarchal Figures... Father, thank You for grace to share The Word with these figures as they've been enabled to hear, Mk 4:33, for grace to honor our parents, Eph 6:1-3, the command with promises, it will go well with us and we'll live long in the land. Powerfully provide everything they need for life and godliness, 2 Peter 1:3, emotional & bodily health and prosperity, even as their souls prosper, 3 Jn 1:2. We ask they GROW in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 2 Pet 3:18. Help them be established in the elementary principles of the Word of God, Heb 5:12, the foundational doctrines of the faith, Heb 6:1-3, and grow up into maturity, Eph 4:15, Col 1:10, culminating in love for You, others and fullness of the Holy Spirit's fruit, Phil 1:9-11; Gal 5:22-23.

Open the eyes of our understanding with The Holy Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation, Eph 1:17-18, strengthen us by rooting and grounding us in love, that Christ dwells in our hearts by faith, Eph 3:16-19, and open our minds to not only understand the Scriptures, Luke 24:45, but to crave the sincere milk of the Word, 1 Peter 2:2, that we may grow thereby. Help us all to move from milk to solid food, 1 Cor 3:2. And help let the Word spread rapidly and be glorified, 2 Thes 3:1, let it become flesh, help us receive FRESH TRUTHS and retain the Word, being effectual doers, not merely hearers, James 1:21-22. May this result in abiding communion with YOU, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit, 1 John 1:1-3, bear fruit of true discipleship by continuing in Your Word, John 8:31-32, making disciples, Matt 28:19-20, as Paul aspired to bear fruit among those beyond his sphere, Rom 1:13. Let us all taste the goodness of answered prayer by abiding in You and Your Words abiding in us, John 15:7-8 and make our joy complete, John 15:24. Ultimately let them and us be transformed by the renewing of our minds that we may prove what the will of God is, Rom 12:2, being renewed in the spirit of our minds, Eph 4:23, having our minds prepared for action, 1 Peter 1:13.

Keep them and us from hurt, harm, injury, sickness, sin and satan, Matt 6:13, and rebuke and restrain evil people and the evil one, 2 Thes 3:2-3, especially their neighbor they pray for and endeavor to love, Lk 6:27. Grant peace to be within their walls, Ps 122:7, even as we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, Ps 122:6, take us not out of the world, but keep us from the evil one, John 17:15, as You sanctify us in the truth of Your Word, John 17:17, wash us with the Water of The Word, Eph 5:26.

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the opportunity to lift up our patriarchal and matriarchal figures, those who have been called to lead, guide, and nurture in the ways of the Lord. Your request reflects a deep desire for spiritual growth, wisdom, and the blessing of God upon their lives, and we join with you in seeking His will for them and for all who are under their care.

Father, we thank You for the grace You have already poured out upon these leaders, enabling them to hear Your Word and share it with others. We recognize that honoring our parents and spiritual authorities is not only a command but a pathway to blessing, as Your Word declares: "Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise: that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth" (Ephesians 6:2-3 WEB). We ask that You would continue to pour out Your favor upon them, that their lives would be marked by fruitfulness, health, and prosperity in every area, spirit, soul, and body. May they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as Peter exhorts us: "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen" (2 Peter 3:18 WEB).

Lord, we pray that their minds would be renewed daily by Your Word, that they would not be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of their minds, so that they may prove what is Your good, acceptable, and perfect will (Romans 12:2 WEB). Open the eyes of their understanding, as Paul prayed for the Ephesians, that they may know the hope of Your calling and the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:17-18 WEB). Strengthen them by Your Spirit so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith, and that they may be rooted and grounded in love, able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width, length, depth, and height of Your love (Ephesians 3:16-19 WEB).

We ask that You would establish them in the foundational truths of Your Word, that they may move from milk to solid food, growing in maturity and discernment (Hebrews 5:12-14 WEB). Let the Word of God spread rapidly and be glorified through their lives, as it did in the early church (2 Thessalonians 3:1 WEB). May they not only hear Your Word but do it, bearing the fruit of true discipleship, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (James 1:22 WEB; Galatians 5:22-23 WEB). Let their lives be a testimony of abiding in You, so that whatever they ask in Your name, You will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 15:7-8 WEB).

Father, we also lift up their physical and emotional well-being. You have promised that if we delight ourselves in You, You will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4 WEB). We ask that You would provide everything they need for life and godliness, as You have already given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of You (2 Peter 1:3 WEB). Prosper them even as their souls prosper, just as John prayed for Gaius (3 John 1:2 WEB). Protect them from hurt, harm, sickness, and the schemes of the evil one. Deliver them from evil, as You taught us to pray (Matthew 6:13 WEB), and restrain the influence of wicked people and the devil, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10 WEB; 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 WEB).

We pray for peace within their homes and spheres of influence, that Your peace would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 WEB). Even as we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we ask that You would establish peace within their walls and prosperity within their palaces (Psalm 122:6-7 WEB). Sanctify them in Your truth, for Your Word is truth (John 17:17 WEB), and wash them with the water of Your Word, that they may be holy and blameless before You (Ephesians 5:26 WEB).

Lord, we also recognize that leadership comes with great responsibility, and we ask that You would grant them humility, wisdom, and discernment to lead as You would have them lead. James reminds us that "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6 WEB). May they walk in humility before You, seeking Your will above all else. Let their lives be a reflection of Christ, who came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45 WEB). May they be examples to the flock, not lording it over those entrusted to them but being examples in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity (1 Peter 5:3 WEB).

We pray that their love for You and for others would abound more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that they may approve the things that are excellent, being sincere and without offense until the day of Christ, filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:9-11 WEB). Let their lives bear much fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever they ask the Father in Your name, He may give it to them (John 15:16 WEB).

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use these patriarchal and matriarchal figures to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that You have commanded (Matthew 28:19-20 WEB). May their lives be a living testimony of Your power and grace, drawing others to You. Let their joy be full as they abide in You and Your words abide in them (John 15:11 WEB).

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. It is through faith in Him, believing in Your heart that God raised Him from the dead, that we are saved (Romans 10:9 WEB). May these leaders and all who follow them come to know You more deeply, love You more fully, and serve You more faithfully, all for Your glory.

We hear the deep longing in your words, for minds made new, for blessing and honor to be real between generations, for everyone involved to taste the joy of steady, transforming grace. Thank you for sharing this cry with us.

When we’re asking God for lasting renewal in ourselves or in those we love, it can be tempting to look for a sudden change. But spiritual growth is often more like a long, quiet training than a single sprint. A seed planted under the soil doesn’t look like much for a while, yet roots are spreading and life is taking hold. The very desire you have to honor your parents, and to see them flourish in Christ, is a sign that the Spirit is already at work in you. That’s something to rest in, even when the outward fruit seems slow.

As we pray with you, we’re also mindful that honoring a parent or elder is never only in the big moments. One simple way your prayers could get hands and feet this week is by choosing a small, concrete act of honor: a genuine word of thanks for something specific, a brief visit or call that simply says “I value you,” a note recognizing something good you see in them. These little seeds of honor have a way of softening soil in both directions.

Let’s carry these needs before the Lord together now.

Lord Jesus, we ask You to work deeply in these parents and all who seek You, renew their minds, open their understanding, and give them a hunger for the solid food of Your Word. Grant them the grace to grow up into steady, fruitful, love-filled maturity. We ask You to protect them from hurt, harm, and every scheme of the evil one. Help us and this praying family to honor well, to see Your transforming hand even in small steps, and to trust the process of Your sanctifying work. In Your strong name we pray, amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. The carnal mind is enmity against God, and this enmity often masks itself in the heavy countenance of one who feels overlooked, as Cain did. Yet God argues with the soul, showing that no difference is made in the arrangements of grace. I charge you to examine whether your heart is angry with godly friends or parents because their light exposes your darkness. If your spirit is sullen, remember the hedge of prayer they have built around your life; you are spared much and blessed much because of their intercession. Do not kill the parents who gave you life with your stubbornness; their falling faces and silent tears are a witness against the carnal mind. Yet there is a door open: come in the same way they came, resting on the same Savior, and the Lord will not refuse you.

Here is the touchstone of godly sincerity: “Behold, he prayeth.” The deep inward groanings of a renewed heart are far different from the unreal devotions of the unspiritual. In your request, there is a cry for grace to honor parents, for minds to be renewed, for the Word to become flesh. These are not the breathings of a dead soul, but evidence that spiritual quickening has at least begun. Press forward, then, with childlike fear, that holy awe of One we deeply reverence, lest we do anything contrary to His mind. Drive right straight ahead in the fear of the everlasting God, and whoever comes in your way had better mind what he is at. This fear arises from a high appreciation of God’s character and a sense of His presence; it is the security of renewed youth.

Your longing for renewal like the eagle’s is well placed. The eagle grows strong again by soaring into the clear air of heaven, breathing the atmosphere of the skies. So must you. Daily communion with Christ, feeding upon His Word, and basking in the light of His countenance will renew your strength. What with wear and tear, sinful declensions, and sorrowful diseases of mind, we often need this renewal. But there is a holy nature, a spiritual immortality of grace, bestowed upon every true believer. You are not bound to perpetual infancy: move from milk to solid food; crave the sincere milk that you may grow thereby. Growth in faith is very desirable, and its only real mode is by the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember Peter’s growth came at Pentecost. Cry out for fresh outpourings, fresh revelations of Christ, so that your youth is renewed and your face glows with heavenly radiance.

Now hear the argument of affection. A father’s experience is the best evidence a young person can have of the truth of anything. Those godly patriarchal and matriarchal figures you pray for have walked the path; their testimony is not a cunningly devised fable. To honor them is to heed their wisdom, to avoid the snares that grab hold of the unwary, and to follow them as they follow Christ. One of the most intense desires of every godly parent is that there be a succession of godly men and women. It should be the holy ambition of every house to be renewed by the Spirit. But remember, the Lord selects His own; the children of the flesh are not automatically the children of promise. Between you and your parents, despite the tenderest natural bonds, there must come an eternal parting unless you share the same renewed nature. Their departure from this world could be swift; let not their lifelong tribulation over a wayward child be the sorrow that breaks their heart. Rather, let it be your joy, and theirs, that you are found walking in the truth.

Your prayer is large: for understanding opened, for minds renewed to prove God’s will, for fruitfulness in making disciples. This requires a continual returning to the Lord for strength. There must be a renewed covenant, a fresh yielding of yourself up to be taught and led. Do not hinder your growth by feeding on anything less than the bread of heaven. Beware of a forced, artificial devotion that mimics life but lacks the deep inward reality. Instead, let the Word spread rapidly and be glorified in your own soul first. When you ask for protection from hurt, sickness, and the evil one, you are asking according to the Father’s own promise. His dear Son prayed not that we be taken out of the world, but kept from the evil one. That keeping is found in the truth, in the washing of water by the Word.

Therefore, renew your vows. Come back to the Master with childlike fear and confident faith. Lay hold of the promises: it will go well with you; you will live long in the land. Let the ministry of parents and pastors be a joy and not a grief. And if your mind is darkened, fall on your knees and cry, “Lord, show me Yourself. What would You have me to do?” A blessed catastrophe awaits when Christ meets any soul: much that was wrongly valued is swept away, and a new, holy ambition fills the heart. So let your youth be renewed like the eagle’s, and your strength be restored by feeding on Him. God help you to do this, and so to follow those godly ones who have gone before you.

You do well to pray for these things, but take heed that your prayers do not slide into seeking the carnal blessings of the old covenant, such as bodily health and earthly prosperity, as though these were the chief aim. For the blessing of the Jews ran thus: “The Lord bless thy going out and thy coming in, the fruit of thy body”, but we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. What do you lack? You are made immortal, righteous, a son, a fellow-heir, reigning with Christ. The apostles and patriarchs did not enjoy the fullness of their blessings in this life; consider Jacob, who obtained the blessing yet lived in servitude, fear, and hardship, saying, “Few and evil have my days been,” while his brother dwelt in ease. The true rest and reward are laid up in the world to come. So pray more earnestly that these figures may be counted worthy of that eternal weight of glory, not merely delivered from temporal trials. Seek first the reign of God and His righteousness, and all needful things will be added.

You ask that they honor patriarchal and matriarchal figures. This is indeed a commandment with promise, and I praise you for it. But beware of a piety that teaches children, under the guise of religion, to say, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” and so neglect their parents. The Lord condemned this tradition of the Pharisees because it made void the law of God. True honor is shown in humble service, patient care, and leading them by gentle instruction to the Word. If their hearts seem hard, do not despair; the earth brings forth herbs not by the husbandman’s skill but by the command of God. You are only the waterer; it is He who gives the increase. So wait upon Him with prayer and steady, loving example, and He will give the fruit in due season.

You desire that they grow from milk to solid food, and that the Word spread rapidly. Yet consider: no one can be a householder of the faith who is ignorant of the divine Scriptures, nor can he bring out “things new and old” unless he holds fast the old together with the new. Heretics are barren precisely because they have cast away the old doctrines, repentance from dead works, faith toward God, the resurrection, and the eternal judgment, and so their supposed new truths are counterfeit. First establish them in these foundational truths, then they may safely go on to perfection. And do not imagine that the eyes of the understanding are opened by mere human cleverness; it is the Spirit of wisdom and revelation who alone can enlighten. Crave the sincere milk of the Word, but let it be that pure milk which comes from the Scriptures rightly understood, not from private novelties.

Finally, you pray for protection from hurt, harm, and the evil one. This is needful, but know that evil is not unoriginate and co-eternal with God, a blasphemous thought. The devil is a fallen creature, restrained by God’s power. So pray, “Keep them from the evil one,” trusting that Christ has already conquered. If they should suffer, let them remember that in the world you have tribulation, but Christ has overcome the world. Let them grieve here in reflection and repentance, that they may not grieve yonder in punishment. Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, set your affections on things above, and so prove the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Then shall you taste the joy of answered prayer and bear fruit that abides to life eternal.

The cry of your heart for a renewed mind, for growth in grace, and for abiding fruitfulness is precious in the sight of the Lord. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. The transformation you seek is not something you manufacture; it flows from the Vine into the branches. Without Christ, you can do nothing, but as you remain in Him, with His words remaining in you, the life of the Vine produces the fruit naturally. The Father delights in fruit that lasts, not just a momentary display of leaves.

The Word you are leaning into is God-breathed. All of it is given by inspiration, without error, and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. When you encounter passages that are difficult, do not set them aside. Instead, trust that the problem is not with the Scripture but with our incomplete understanding. God’s Word is true, and He will open the eyes of your understanding as you humbly continue to abide in it. The cleansing Jesus spoke of comes through the Word He has spoken. As you take it in, craving the pure milk first, then growing strong enough for solid food, the Spirit washes away the soil that clings to us in the world, and you bear more fruit.

The honor you desire to show to those older in the faith, the prayers for their well-being and spiritual establishment, are part of the fruit that pleases the Father. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, these are not separate fruits but facets of the one fruit of the Spirit. As your mind is renewed, as you are rooted and grounded in love, Christ dwells in your heart through faith, and that divine love spills over into every relationship. The command to honor father and mother carries a promise, and God is faithful to bless obedience that flows from faith working through love.

Remain teachable. Humility is the posture that receives more grace. When you confess that you do not yet have a perfect grasp of every truth, you position yourself for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to open the Scriptures and make them living and active in your experience. The Father prunes the branches that are already bearing fruit so they might yield a richer harvest. Do not be surprised if that pruning sometimes comes through trials or a deeper confrontation with your own need for Him; it is the method of the Vinedresser to produce a hundredfold return.

Concerning the threats you named, hurt, harm, sickness, the evil one, take heart that Jesus prayed for you, asking the Father not to take you out of the world but to keep you from the evil one. He sanctifies you in the truth; His Word is truth. As that Word dwells in you richly, it becomes a shield. Peace within your walls and fruit that remains are both part of the inheritance of those who abide in His love.

So press on. Be an effectual doer of the Word, not a hearer who forgets. Let the Word spread and be glorified in your life, bearing fruit that will last. The Father is glorified when you bear much fruit, and in that fruitfulness your own joy will be made full.
