We understand that you are dealing with a challenging situation involving a loved one's struggle with alcoholism and marital issues. Let's bring this before the Lord in prayer and seek His guidance according to His word.
Firstly, we acknowledge that you have come in the name of Jesus Christ, which is the only way we can approach God. It is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. And whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Joel 2:32 WEB.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this family that is struggling with the effects of alcoholism and marital discord. Lord, You know the pain and suffering that addiction brings, and we ask for Your divine intervention in this situation.
First, we pray for the husband, that You would deliver him from the bondage of alcoholism. Lord Jesus, You came to set the captives free. Cast out the spirits of alcoholism, addiction, and bind the confusion that has been caused. We have confidence to pray this: For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB.
We pray for his wife, that You would give her the strength, wisdom, and courage to support her husband and seek the urgent help he needs. Lord, guide her steps and give her a spirit of discernment as she navigates this challenging time. Help her to be kind and to pay attention to her husband's needs, seeking You continually for guidance. As it is written, Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22 WEB. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate. Mark 10:9 WEB.
Lord, we also pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would grant them peace and quiet in their home, and that You would restore harmony and order to their living situation. We also pray for the provision and the blessings in their life for their daughter. We ask that You would guide them in extending kindness and support to this couple, while also setting healthy boundaries. For anyone who does not provide for his relatives and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8 WEB.
Lord, we place this situation in Your hands, trusting that You will work all things together for good, as it is written, And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 WEB.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying and seeking the Lord's guidance in this situation. Remember that God is faithful, and He will hear and answer your prayers according to His will. Stay strong in your faith, and trust in the Lord with all your heart.
Regarding the marital situation, we must strongly encourage a reconciliation if at all possible. The Bible tells us that God hates divorce Malachi 2:16 WEB, and that His desire is for husbands and wives to be united in Him. While separation may be necessary for a time due to the husband's struggles, the ultimate goal should be restoration and reunification of the marriage, if possible.
Lastly, do not give up or be tempted to go back to the husband's old ways or to live in a way contrary to the Bible. But if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace. 1 Corinthians 7:15 WEB. We have confidence that the Lord will bring peace to this situation and restore harmony to your home and family.
