Your prayer reflects a heart that God himself is stirring, a longing for truth and righteousness that only He can satisfy. It is right to bring these people before the Lord and to ask Him to work deeply within them.

Scripture shows that every person carries a spiritual thirst. We have physical needs and emotional needs, but deepest of all is the thirst of the spirit for God. Jesus said, if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink, and He told the woman at the well that whoever drinks of ordinary water will thirst again. That is true of every earthly pursuit. Achievements, knowledge, position and even religious effort leave a person thirsty again. Only a living relationship with God through Jesus Christ quenches that thirst, and when He satisfies it, rivers of living water flow from within.

That is why Jesus said, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. That hunger is a mark of God's work. It is the turning point where a person stops trying to fill the emptiness with other things and seeks God himself. Your request for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is exactly what the Lord promises to fill when it is directed to Him. Jesus is the truth that sets us free, and only He can give the righteousness that satisfies.

It is also wise that you noted education alone does not make a person righteous. Scripture speaks of having a zeal for God but not according to knowledge, being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish our own. Many try to establish righteousness by keeping the law or by good works, yet the law shows us our need rather than making us righteous. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness, before any religious observance. In the same way, God imputes righteousness to us through faith in Jesus Christ. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. No degree, no legal training, no moral effort can produce what God gives freely when we trust in the blood of Jesus shed for our redemption. God declares the ungodly righteous when they believe on Him who justifies, not because of works but because of faith.

That is why your prayer from Psalm 51 is so fitting. God does not delight in outward sacrifice alone. What He desires and will not despise is a broken spirit and a contrite heart that recognizes sin, hates it, and turns from it. Only He can soften a hard heart and bring that conviction. When He does, a person stops excusing what is evil in His sight and begins to long for what is right and compassionate, with a regard for human life and honest communication.

We join you in asking the Father in Jesus' name to have mercy on those you mentioned, the team and their lawyers and representatives, and to draw them to salvation through Jesus Christ alone. We ask Him to cover those who are His with His peace and understanding, to convict where there is sin, to forgive where there is repentance, and to create in each heart a true hunger for His truth and His righteousness that only He can fill. May He lead them to see their need for Him, to turn from what grieves Him, and to receive the righteousness that comes by faith.

We thank God that His Holy Spirit intercedes continually and that His will is perfect and good. We will keep praying with you that the Lord will do this work according to His grace and for His glory. Amen.
