Every person is made body, soul, and spirit, and deep within there is a spiritual thirst that cannot be satisfied by success, possessions, achievements, or even by winning legal arguments. Jesus told the woman at the well that whoever drinks of ordinary water will thirst again. That is true of every physical and emotional pursuit. Only He can quench the thirst for God, because He is God. David expressed it as the deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God. When that thirst is awakened, a person begins to seek God Himself, and out of that new life flows righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, which is the character of His kingdom.
So continue to pray that God would stir those hearts to recognize sin, to hate it, and to come to Christ for mercy. Pray that He would create in them a genuine hunger for what is right and true, and that He would cover and keep those who already belong to Him with His peace and understanding. Your life and prayers can help create that thirst in others as you reflect the light of Christ.
