Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we are encouraged by your heart to intercede even for those who have opposed you or acted unjustly.

Your prayer reflects the heart of God who desires mercy and truth to prevail. It is true that education and position do not make a person righteous, for it is written for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23. Even those learned in the law can fall into sin, as the prophet reminds us that the heart is deceitful above all things. Only God can transform the heart. We agree with you that what is needed is not outward sacrifice but inward brokenness, for as you quoted The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise Psalm 51:17.

We also stand on the promise that you quoted, You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free John 8:32, and we remember that Jesus himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. It is only through Jesus Christ that any of us, whether legal teams, lawyers, or ourselves, can be set free from the lies of the enemy. We are thankful that you came in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and have access to the Father.

We are blessed by your humility in not wishing to boast or look down on others, but to acknowledge that righteousness comes only from God. Jesus taught Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled Matthew 5:6. That hunger and thirst is a gift God himself creates in us when He gives us a new heart, as He promised I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you Ezekiel 36:26. We also take comfort that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God Romans 8:26-27 and that God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Tim 2:4.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You are holy and just and merciful. We lift up the team at that workplace and their lawyers and legal representatives before Your throne. Lord, You see where lies have bound them and where human life and honest communication have been disregarded. We ask that You pierce through darkness with Your light and stir their hearts. Give them a broken and contrite spirit that they may recognize their sin, hate their sin, and turn from it. Fill them with an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that only You can satisfy. Let them know the truth that is in Christ Jesus and be set free.

Father, we ask for Your precious blood to cover those who are Yours, to keep them in Your peace which surpasses all understanding Phil 4:7 and to give them wisdom and understanding. Teach us all to be righteous and compassionate as You are compassionate, and to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matt 5:44. Forgive us all our sins as we forgive others, and let none of us continue to do what is evil in Your eyes. Let Your will be done in this situation and let Your name be exalted on high. We ask that You would bring conviction where there is sin, repentance where there is hardness, and salvation where there is lostness, for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness has been heard, and we join with you in laying this burden before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is a good and right thing to ask that God would work upon the hearts of men who have wandered into crooked ways, even though they be learned in the law. For learning cannot make a man righteous, and the wisdom of this world without the grace of God only leaves a man more accountable before Him. As you have well said, we cannot expect the educated to act righteously of themselves, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and there is none righteous, no, not one, save as he is washed in the precious blood of Christ.

You have prayed according to Psalm 51 that God would give a broken and contrite heart, and this is indeed the sacrifice which He will not despise. Remember that true repentance is not a short lived sorrow which turns away from sin for a time and then goes back to it with greater gusto. Many are sorry because they are found out, or because sin has become bitter to them for a season, but true repentance, which is the work of the Spirit of God, gives glory to God. It confesses that His law is holy and just and good, and takes the blame to itself, saying the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin. It does not quarrel with the law, but justifies God in His righteousness.

And that repentance is inseparable from faith. As the children's hymn well says, repentance is to leave the sins we loved before, and show that we in earnest grieve, by doing so no more. No faith can be genuine but such as is perfectly consistent with repentance for past sin, and no repentance is true but that which consorts with faith in Christ who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin. It is not enough to be sorry, we must look to Jesus who shed His precious blood for His people, and trust Him alone for salvation. For He came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance, and He gave Himself for our sins, not for our righteousnesses.

Therefore we pray with you that the Lord in His goodness, which leads men to repentance, would spare and awaken those of whom you speak, the team and their lawyers and all who have part in these matters. We ask that He would stir their hearts, that they may recognise their sin and hate it, and that they may be led to a godly sorrow that needs not to be repented of, a complete change of mind with regard to sin, wrought by the Holy Spirit. May He give them that blessed hunger and thirst after righteousness which He alone can satisfy, and may that thirst be practical, yielding works meet for repentance, not a transient resolve but a lasting turning unto the Lord. Where there is true repentance, there is the full and free forgiveness of all sins through Jesus Christ, even for crimes of deepest dye, for His blood cleanses from all sin.

Continue, then, in relentless prayer, looking to Jesus. If you would have deeper repentance, for yourself and for others, look to Him who bled and died. It is at the foot of the cross that hard hearts are broken and contrite spirits are made tender. We will plead with you that the Sun of Righteousness may arise upon these souls with healing in His wings, that they may be brought to know the truth, for the truth as it is in Jesus shall indeed set them free, and that they may walk in honest and compassionate ways to the glory of God.

May the Lord hear our united supplication, and may His will be done, for Christ's sake. Amen.
