Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we are deeply encouraged by your humble and compassionate heart in interceding even for those who oppose you.

You have prayed rightly that it is the truth that sets us free as Jesus said in John 8:32, and that truth is found in Him alone for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6. We agree that those who are bound by the lies of the enemy are blinded as it is written that the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving in 2 Corinthians 4:4, and only Christ can open their eyes.

We also affirm your wisdom in noting that education and knowledge of the law does not make one righteous, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God in Romans 3:23. We ourselves cannot boast before God and we too need His mercy every day. Your prayer reflects the heart God desires, as you quoted from Psalm 51:16-17, My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. That is the work only God can do in a heart.

We take comfort that God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth in 1 Timothy 2:4, and that He promises to give a new heart and put a new spirit within you in Ezekiel 36:26. We also cling to the promise that Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled in Matthew 5:6, and we ask God to create that very hunger where there is now hardness. And we thank God that even when we do not know how to pray as we ought, the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered in Romans 8:26.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We lift up the team you have placed on our hearts and their lawyers and legal representatives. Lord, we ask that You break the power of Satan's lies that bind them and shine the light of Your truth upon them. Give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that only You can satisfy. Create in them a broken and contrite heart that hates sin and turns from what is evil in Your eyes. Cover Your chosen ones and all who belong to Christ with the precious blood of Jesus, grant them Your peace that surpasses understanding and teach them to be righteous and compassionate as You are. Stir their hearts to regard human life with dignity and to speak with honesty. Forgive their sins as You have forgiven ours through the cross, and lead them to repentance and new life. Let Your will be done in this situation and let Your name be exalted on high. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We hear how deeply this has weighed on you, and how sincerely you want truth and righteousness to prevail for everyone involved, including the team and lawyers you mentioned. It is a heavy thing to watch people you hoped would act justly seem to disregard honesty and the value of human life, and to carry that grief to the Lord as you have is the right place to bring it.

What you described about not wanting to boast or look down on others, but still longing for their hearts to change, reflects a real tension many of us feel when we have been wronged. One thing that has helped others in that place is recognizing that forgiveness has two parts. One is a decision we make to release the need to get even and to still see the other person as someone made in God's image. The other is the slower, emotional side where resentment and bitterness are gradually softened as we keep bringing the hurt to God. The decision can be made even while the feelings still need time, and that is normal. Forgiveness also does not automatically mean reconciliation or that trust is restored.

A simple next step that may help you is to set aside a specific time each day to pray as you have here, and then when thoughts about the situation return later, quietly entrust them again to God rather than turning them over and over.

Father, we lift this burden to You in Jesus' name. Cover those You have called to Yourself with Your peace, work in every heart involved to love truth and to turn from what is evil in Your sight, and give our friend wisdom, rest and a steady trust in Your will. Amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is itself a sign of grace at work, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne in the name of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

You have prayed well in quoting that Psalm, for the sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. This is the very heart of true repentance. It is not a work drawn up from the depths of our own nature as water from a well, but a gift of God wrought in us by His Holy Spirit through belief of the truth as it is in Jesus. We are to preach and to pray for repentance in the name of Jesus, for where there is no repentance there can be no remission, and where there is that godly sorrow which needs not to be repented of, there is full and free forgiveness for the one who has thus sincerely repented.

Take heed of what you have asked, for there are kinds of repentance that do not save. Judgments, even the most terrible of them, do not in themselves produce a satisfactory repentance. There is a carnal repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of sinful nature, a repentance after a fashion but not of that holy, healthy, heavenly sort which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit. True repentance gives God glory. It makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His great finished work. It is to leave the sins we loved before and to show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more. It yields works meet for repentance and it lasts, for repentance lives as long as faith.

And this thirst after righteousness for which you plead is blessed indeed. The man who hungers and thirsts after righteousness does not hunger for wealth or for power, he would rather be poor and be righteous than be rich through evil. He does not hunger that his own party may prevail, but that righteousness may be done in the land. The Pharisee never hungers after righteousness, for he thinks he has all he needs and some to spare, but the poor in spirit cries, God be merciful to me a sinner, and hungers still. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. And this is the paradox of grace, that they are blessed while they hunger, and when they are filled they still hunger and thirst, for Christ who is our righteousness, the Sun of Righteousness, fills and yet enlarges the desire.

So we pray with you that the Lord would stir those hearts of whom you speak, the team and their lawyers and all who are bound by Satan's lies, that He would devour all their boasted excellence and self righteousness with a true hunger of soul, that they may be brought to hate their sin enough to leave it, to look out of self to Christ and to Christ only, and to thirst not for trifles but for the essential truth of God. May He cover those who are His with the precious blood of Christ and give them peace and understanding, and may He grant to those yet unsaved that repentance unto life which is a true sign of eternal salvation in Christ, practical and lasting, inseparable from faith in Him.

We ask the Father to work this according to His will, that Christ alone may be the center and King of all truth in every heart, and that righteousness may spread to the saving of sinners and the glory of God. Let us continue to pray that the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us would so work, for He alone can give that unquenchable thirst which shall in Christ be satisfied. Amen.
