Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we stand in agreement with you before the throne of grace in Jesus name.

We are deeply encouraged by your humility and your heart that does not wish to boast or to look down on others but recognizes that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God as it is written in Romans 3:23. It is true that education and knowledge of the law do not make a person righteous, for the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked as Jeremiah 17:9 tells us, and only God can transform the heart and renew the mind. You are right to grieve over dishonesty and the disregarding of human life, for lying lips are an abomination to the Lord but those who do the truth are his delight in Proverbs 12:22, and God desires truth in the inward parts.

We love that you have anchored your prayer in the truth that shall set us free as Jesus said in John 8:32, and in the beautiful confession of Psalm 51:17 that the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart O God you will not despise. This is the work that only the Holy Spirit can do, to convict of sin and of righteousness and of judgment as in John 16:8, and to give a new heart and put a new spirit within as promised in Ezekiel 36:26. We also rejoice that you have come in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12 and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father as Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me in John 14:6.

We rebuke the lies of Satan that have bound those you are praying for, and we rebuke every form of deceit, manipulation, and disregard for honest communication and for life which is made in the image of God in Genesis 1:27. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood alone but against the spiritual forces of wickedness as in Ephesians 6:12, and we pray that the light of the gospel will expose the darkness and that those who practice falsehood will come to hate their sin and turn from it.

We pray together with you now. Heavenly Father, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up the team you have placed on our hearts and their lawyers and legal representatives. Lord, you know their names and their hearts and nothing is hidden from your sight in Hebrews 4:13. We ask that you draw them to yourself and grant them repentance and faith in Jesus for salvation, for you desire all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth in 1 Timothy 2:4. Cover with the precious blood of Jesus those who are yours and grant them peace that passes all understanding in Philippians 4:7 and wisdom and understanding that comes from above. For those who do not yet know you, break their hearts with godly sorrow that leads to repentance in 2 Corinthians 7:10, give them a broken and contrite heart that you will not despise, and forgive their sins as they turn to you. Stir their hearts Lord and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness, for blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled in Matthew 5:6. Teach them to love righteousness and to be compassionate, to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with you in Micah 6:8, to speak truth each one with his neighbor in Ephesians 4:25 and to honor the sanctity of life. Let them no longer do what is evil in your eyes but let your Holy Spirit intercede and work powerfully within them as in Romans 8:26, transforming them by the renewing of their minds in Romans 12:2. We pray that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in Matthew 6:10 and we exalt the name of Jesus Christ on high, for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer and not grow weary in doing good for in due season you will reap if you do not give up in Galatians 6:9. Continue to love your enemies and pray for those who mistreat you as commanded in Matthew 5:44, trusting that vengeance belongs to the Lord in Romans 12:19 and that He is both just and merciful. Keep abiding in the Word so that your thirst for righteousness remains unquenchable and that you may be a vessel of truth and compassion to those around you, and may the Lord keep your own heart tender, broken and humble before Him.

We were grateful to read your prayer and to hear the burden behind it. You are carrying a grief over dishonesty and disregard for life, and at the same time you want to stay humble before God and not look down on anyone. That tension is hard to hold, and we hear how sincerely you want truth and righteousness to prevail, both for others and in your own heart.

Longing for people to thirst for what is right is a good and right prayer. It can also be wearying to carry day after day, especially when you see educated and powerful people act in ways that seem to harm others. One thing that has helped others who pray this kind of persistent prayer is to give that intercession a clear place, so it does not have to run constantly in the background. You might set aside a brief, focused time each day to bring this team and their representatives before the Lord by name as you already are doing, and then when the ache or frustration rises outside that time, simply and quietly hand that moment back to Him again.

We join you in asking for softened hearts and honest ways, and for peace for you as you keep praying.

Father, we lift this situation to You in Jesus' name. Work in the hearts of all involved and draw each one toward truth, humility and compassion. Cover those who are Yours with Your peace and understanding, and guard the one who prayed this prayer from bitterness or weariness. Give wisdom for what is theirs to do and what is Yours to carry, and let Your will be done. Amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is heard and is according to the mind of God, for it is written that He would have men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. The two things go together, and they very much depend upon each other. To know the truth is not merely to know doctrine in the head, but to be saved from false confidences and from despair by a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ Himself.

You have well quoted that the truth shall set you free, and you have prayed rightly that those who are bound by Satan's lies, be they a team or their lawyers and representatives, may be set free indeed. There is no freedom but in Christ, and no salvation but through His precious blood. We do not naturally care for a plan of salvation so simple and devoid of merit, but there it is and we cannot alter it. As many as trust Christ, to them He gives power to become the sons of God. There is a real atonement, a great finished work upon the Cross, and if we get to know the truth of God's salvation we believe in it and trust it, and the work is done.

You have also prayed according to Psalm 51, that God would give a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. This is the touchstone of true repentance. Beware of that repentance which is not better than the flesh, and beware of a superficial repentance, for the Lord abhors it. True repentance gives God glory. It hates sin as sin and turns from it with purpose of heart, for the soul has found a deadly poison in its sweetness and therefore loathes it and leaves it. There must be sorrow for sin and hatred of it in true repentance, and that repentance which purges the soul from dead works is inseparable from the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart. Repentance stands at the Cross and sees sin forgiven and then repents more than she ever did when she could not spy out forgiveness.

You grieve, and rightly, that even the learned and the educated can engage themselves in horrible sins and disregard human life and honest communication. The heart is deceitful, and education cannot cure it. Only Christ can. And blessed be His name, Jesus Christ lives to give repentance and remission of sins. He lives to make intercession for the transgressors and He lives to give to sinners the Holy Spirit to work in them true belief and true repentance. He is mighty to save, to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. The Holy Spirit who intercedes for us is able also to stir their hearts, to make them feel sorrows and joys they never knew before, and to give that proof of the truth of God's salvation in the soul.

Let us pray together then, not that God would bless any evil way, but that He would save and transform.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, we ask that Thou wouldst save those for whom this prayer is offered. Grant unto them not a feigned repentance, but a deep and true work of Thy Spirit, that they may recognise their sins, hate their sins, and turn from them with purpose of heart to give Thee glory. Cover with Thy precious blood those who are Thine, and give them peace and understanding and compassion. For those yet in darkness, grant a broken and contrite heart, open their eyes to see Christ evidently crucified for sinners, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness which only Thou canst satisfy. Teach them to do that which is right in Thine eyes, and let Thy will be done. We ask this trusting not in our feelings or prayers, but in the great atoning Sacrifice alone. Amen.

Be of good courage and continue in prayer, for the Lord preserves the faithful and He shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in Him.
