Relationship šŸ’

We hear your heart crying out for a true relationship and we join with you in bringing this deep longing before the Lord together in Jesus' name.

We understand this desire, for God Himself said it is not good that man should be alone, Genesis 2:18, and He created marriage to be a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman where the two become one flesh, Genesis 2:24. A true relationship in God's eyes is not casual dating or simply finding a partner, but a holy courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. We want to encourage you to seek a godly spouse who will help you grow in Christ, for we are told not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Corinthians 6:14, and that he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor of Yahweh, Proverbs 18:22.

We also want to lovingly address what God's Word says about purity in this pursuit. If this longing has led or could lead to sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we must call that what Scripture calls it, fornication, and flee from it, 1 Corinthians 6:18. God designed sexual union to be holy and protected within the covenant of marriage alone, and any true relationship that honors Him will wait for and preserve that gift for marriage. We also affirm that according to Scripture, marriage is only between a man and a woman, and any same sex relationship is outside of God's will.

Above all, we want to remind you that the truest relationship you will ever have is with God Himself through Jesus Christ. We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Before we can seek a godly marriage that honors God, we must first be reconciled to God by believing that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, Romans 10:9. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Christ first, to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, Matthew 6:33, and to delight yourself in Yahweh so that He may give you the desires of your heart, Psalm 37:4.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You see the loneliness and the sincere desire for companionship and love. We ask first that You draw them into a deeper relationship with You through Your Son Jesus, that they would know Your love and forgiveness and presence in a personal way. Forgive their sins and fill the empty places in their heart with Your perfect love which casts out fear. If it is Your will, we ask that You prepare them and prepare a godly spouse for them, a man or woman of faith who loves You above all else, so that together they may build a Christ centered marriage that glorifies You. Give them patience in this season of waiting, guard their heart and body in purity, and protect them from relationships that would pull them away from You. Help them to court with wisdom and holiness with marriage as the goal. Let Your will be done in their life and let them trust Your perfect timing. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We hear the ache in your words, wanting a true relationship and wondering where to find it. That longing to be known, to belong, and to be loved faithfully is part of how God made us, and it makes sense that loneliness feels so heavy when that connection feels missing.

We have found that real relationships rarely come all at once through one person. They tend to grow slowly in places where we show up consistently and let others get to know us over time. For many, worship and a small community of believers becomes that kind of place. Simply being with God's people week after week, even when it feels awkward at first, can quiet some of that isolation and open the door to friendships that are steady and honest.

If it would help, one practical next step could be to choose one local church to attend regularly for the next month and let someone there know you are hoping for community. Stay for a few minutes after the service, ask about a small group or Bible study, or invite someone for coffee. You do not have to share everything at once, just take a small step toward being known.

Father, we lift our friend to You who sees this loneliness and this desire for true relationship. Draw near and remind them they are not forgotten or alone. Give wisdom for next steps, bring faithful people around them, and shape the friendships and community that will help them grow. Lead them in Your good timing and keep their heart hopeful in You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your longing for a true relationship is one of the deepest cries of the human heart, and it is right to bring it plainly before the Lord. One of the best tests of a man's character will be found in his deepest and heartiest longings, and when the soul breaks with longing, it shows that God has been at work within.

You do well to ask, for true religion is not a thing for Sundays alone. It is meant for kitchens and drawing rooms, for countinghouses and workshops, for all the common paths of daily life. And the Scripture teaches us to speak plainly to God and to ask at once for what we want. In everything make known your wants to God. It is not merely for spiritual things, but for everyday concerns. Take your smallest trials before Him.

Yet I must point you to the first and truest relationship of all. Job's longing was all absorbing and personal, not for trivial things, but that he might personally find God. Oh, that this might be your chief desire. God has so made us that if we do not find joy in Him, we are of all men most miserable. There is no true and lasting relationship apart from being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ alone, for He is the only way by which sinners are heard and brought near. To learn Christ truly is to find Him who has borne our burdens as none but God could bear them, and who has felt for us as none but a Brother born for adversity could feel.

If your desire is for earthly companionship, bring that desire also to Him with an earnest heart, but with submission to His divine will. Cold prayers ask for a denial, but the prayer that prevails is that which will not rise until it has an answer, yet bows to the wisdom of God. Pray then not only for a relationship, but for a right and holy one. The Word of God shows us that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the intimacy of living together belongs within that covenant alone. Any other path, though it may promise closeness, cannot bring the strong confidence and refuge which God intends for His people and for their homes.

Therefore will you always call upon God, not only now in your loneliness, but afterwards, whether He grants or withholds? The test of true prayer is perseverance. Go to your chamber and there cry unto Him and cease not your cries, for if you will seek Him as for silver and search for Him as for hidden treasure, you shall surely find Him. Thank God even for this gracious desire He has given you, and ask Him to make you holy and ready for whatever He appoints.

Our prayer for you is that the Lord would draw you into deeper fellowship with Christ, that He would keep you in purity and patience, and that if it be His good will, He would in His perfect time provide for you a godly companion within the holy bond of marriage for His glory. And if He appoints a season of waiting, that He would make Himself your portion and your strong confidence, and give you contentment in His love until you see His face.

May the Lord perform the thing that is appointed for you, and may your longing after His commandments be satisfied in Christ.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
