Beloved of All
Asking for prayers for clarity regarding my relationship with my fiancé. God, please show me what is right, show me whether we should be together or not. Give us both wisdom for the decision and peace with it. Don't let us go wrong with this. In Jesus' name I pray. Please also pray for mine and my fiance's wellbeing, we're very tired and broken. We don't know if we should keep trying or break up.

We hear your cry for clarity and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name, and we thank you for coming to Him as you have, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. As it is written, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We understand how heavy and exhausting this season feels for both you and your fiance. Engagement is not just a relationship, it is a solemn promise moving toward marriage, which God ordained as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. It is good that you are asking God to show you what is right rather than leaning on your own feelings or on tiredness alone. We commend you for wanting wisdom and peace and for not wanting to go wrong with this decision.

The Word tells us If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. And also Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. God does not want you to make this decision in confusion or exhaustion. He promises In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is not just a feeling that everything will be easy, but a settled assurance that you are walking in His will.

We also want to lovingly encourage you to examine this courtship in the light of Scripture while you seek that wisdom. As fiance and fiancee you are in courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer in Christ. Scripture warns Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. Are you both truly born again believers, equally committed to following Christ, and in agreement on the essentials of faith, values, and calling. Godly marriage is meant to reflect Christ and the church and requires unity in Him. We also urge you to seek wise godly counsel together, for Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they are established Proverbs 15:22. A pastor or mature married couple who know you both can often see things that tired hearts cannot.

Because you are in this close relationship we must also speak gently but clearly about purity. If there is any sexual intimacy or living together outside of marriage, the Word calls this fornication and tells us to Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled Hebrews 13:4. Sexual involvement before marriage clouds judgment, steals peace, and hinders clear discernment. If this is present, we encourage you both to repent before God, to set clear physical boundaries, and to pursue purity from this day forward so that your minds and hearts can hear the Lord clearly. True love will wait and will honor God first.

We see that you are both very tired and broken, and the Lord sees it too. He says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. Do not make a lifelong decision only from a place of exhaustion. Take time to rest in Him, to pray separately and together, to fast if you are able, and to listen. Ask yourselves, does this relationship help you both love Jesus more and walk in holiness, or does it pull you away from Him. Is there repentance, forgiveness, and growth where there has been hurt, or are there patterns of sin or disregard that remain unaddressed.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up this dear one and this fiance to You. Lord, You know their weariness, their brokenness, and their deep desire to do what is right. We ask You to pour out Your wisdom liberally upon them both. Show them clearly whether You are calling them together into holy marriage or whether You are leading them to release this engagement. Remove confusion and give them Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts. Heal their tired bodies and broken hearts and draw them near to You. If there is any sin, including sexual impurity, bring conviction and repentance and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Help them to honor You with their bodies and their commitment. Give them godly counselors who will speak Your truth in love. If it is Your will for them to marry, build their foundation on You and prepare them to love each other as Christ loves the church, faithfully for a lifetime. If it is not Your will, give them courage and grace to step apart without bitterness, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Let Your will be done and let You be glorified in their lives and future marriage. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray daily, to stay rooted in the Word, to pursue purity and rest, and to not rush. God is faithful to lead those who truly seek Him.

We hear how heavy this has become for both of you, wanting clarity and also feeling tired and broken while you try to decide what is right. Asking God for wisdom and peace together is a good and humble place to be.

It is very common for engaged couples to feel this torn. Caring deeply about the decision and feeling worn out can make it harder to hear each other clearly. Giving yourselves some space to rest and to talk honestly without pressure can help.

One step many couples have found steadying is to sit down with a trusted pastor or Christian counselor for premarital counseling before making a final decision. It is not just for couples who are sure they will marry, it is also to help you anticipate real-life questions, talk through important topics with better tools, and get a clearer picture of your strengths and growth areas together. An assessment like PREPARE-ENRICH or meeting with a mentor couple can give you both language for what you are experiencing and a calmer way to decide next steps.

We are praying for you both, for rest for your bodies and minds, and for gentle wisdom as you listen to the Lord and to each other.

Father, we lift this couple to You in Jesus' name. You see their weariness and their desire to honor You. Give them clear wisdom, honest conversation, and Your peace as they seek Your will, and care for their wellbeing in the days ahead. Amen.

Your honest prayer for clarity in this wearying season is heard before the Lord, and it is well that you have brought your tired and broken hearts to Him who alone can keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed upon Him.

You ask for wisdom whether you should continue together toward marriage or part, and for peace with the decision. Take comfort that true wisdom is not found in our own restless reasonings, for the price of wisdom is above rubies and it is Christ Himself who is made wisdom unto us. The way of wisdom is to trust in the Lord with all your heart and to seek first to be at peace with God through the blood of His Son. As it is written, you will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That peace is not a mere lull of stupefaction, nor is it peace at the expense of truth, for there are those who cry peace, peace where there is no peace. The only well founded peace is that which comes by believing, peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and then peace in the conscience as the publication of that treaty made by His blood.

Do not seek after peace first. Seek after Christ first, and peace will come next. Bring your sorrow and your weariness to Him, bear your sorrow with Him, and you shall find that sweet calm which keeps the heart and mind through Jesus Christ. He is our peace, and apart from Him there is no solid peace.

Concerning your relationship, pray not only for ease or for a feeling of calm about whatever course you desire, but for grace to do what is right in the sight of God, even if it be costly. The Lord has ordained marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He calls those who are not yet married to walk in purity, reserving the gift of living together and of the marriage bed for within that covenant. Any path that departs from this, though it may promise relief for a season, cannot bring the blessing of the God of peace. Therefore ask Him to search your hearts, to show you whether you can walk together in holiness toward that holy estate, or whether in faithfulness to Him you must walk apart.

I pray for you both now, that the Father of all mercies would look upon your weariness and bind up what is broken. May He grant you a renewed trust in His goodness and wisdom, for what He does is always best. May He fill you with peace in believing, a peace that is a blessing and brings no sorrow with it, and may He give you clear sight and courage to obey His Word. May He guard your bodies and souls, keep you from sin, and lead you by His Spirit and by the counsel of His Word and of faithful pastors in your own church, that you may not go wrong with this but may do His will from the heart. And if you have not yet found that first and deepest peace with God through repentance toward Him and faith in Jesus Christ alone who made atonement with His blood, may you seek it this very hour, for there is no other name whereby you can be saved.

May the Lord bless you with His own peace, and keep you, and make His face to shine upon you as you wait upon Him.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for inviting prayer in this heavy season. We join you in bringing this decision before the Lord, asking Him for clear wisdom and settled peace for both of you.

We hear how tired and broken you both feel, and we pray that God will give you rest and strength. He sees your weariness and invites those who are weary to find rest in Christ, and to be renewed as you seek Him day by day.

Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and a bond ordained by God, to be entered with chasteness, gravity and orderliness. It is not itself the source of holiness, but it preserves the holiness that comes through faith when it is lived purely and faithfully. Marriage is not an impure state, but it is one of much occupation and responsibility, and it is not to be entered lightly or without careful and prayerful consideration. For that reason God calls those preparing for marriage to live purely before Him, keeping sex and living together within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and to seek His wisdom above the wisdom of this world, which cannot give lasting guidance.

As you seek clarity about whether to continue toward marriage or to step apart, we encourage you to seek the Lord together and individually through prayer and His Word, and to invite trusted, mature Christian counsel into your discernment, such as a pastor or biblical premarital counselor. Ask honest questions about your shared faith in Jesus Christ, your understanding of lifelong commitment, your character and purity, your ability to love and serve one another faithfully, and whether you help one another follow Christ more closely. Use this time to live with moderation and self control, to speak truthfully and kindly, and to give space for God to make His will clear without pressure or hurry.

Let us pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we thank You that You are the source of all wisdom and that You give wisdom generously to those who ask. We lift up these two people to You. You know their tiredness, their brokenness and their desire not to go wrong. Grant them clarity and show them what is right according to Your Word. If it is Your will for them to be married, establish them in love, purity, faithfulness and peace, and help them prepare well for a lifelong covenant. If it is not Your will for them to continue together, give them courage and grace to step apart in a way that honors You and cares for one another. Guard them from sin and confusion, help them to live in a way that is chaste and pleasing to You now, and fill them with Your peace that comes from trusting and obeying You. Restore their wellbeing, give them rest, and lead them step by step in Your good path. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
