Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for being honest about how you are feeling. It takes courage to end a relationship you know is not right before God, and it is completely understandable that sadness and longing would still come in waves. Missing someone does not mean you made the wrong decision. Grief is a normal part of letting go, even when letting go was the obedient and healthy choice.
I want to remind you of how deeply you are loved right now. You do not have to earn God's love or try to get Him to care more. He has already moved toward you. He initiated the relationship with you, and your part is simply to respond to the love He has already shown. He loves you supremely, even on the days when you feel weak, lonely, or second guessing yourself.
The Bible describes sin as missing the mark. The mark is perfection, the kind Jesus spoke of when He said to be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. Every one of us has missed that mark, not always because we deliberately rebel, but because we fall short of what God requires. And the result of that missing the mark is serious, for the wages of sin is death and the soul that sins will die. That is why we need a covering, an atonement that we could never provide for ourselves. God provided it Himself. While we were still missing the mark, while we were still sinners, He showed His love by sending Jesus to die in our place.
That is the true missing link in our lives. It is not something we have to search for elsewhere. The separation between us and God is bridged only by Jesus. He is the one who links us back to the Father and brings us into wholeness. When you feel that ache and emptiness today, bring it honestly to Him. He is not standing over you with thunder and harsh judgment. His heart is tender toward you in your struggle, and His desire is to restore you and to form Christ more fully in you.
I am praying for you, that God will comfort your heart in this sadness, strengthen your resolve to walk in obedience, and fill the lonely places with His presence. Ask Him to help you respond to His love today, to receive His grace, and to trust that what He has for you as you walk with Him is far better than what you have left behind. He is faithful to heal and to provide, and He will carry you through this season one day at a time.
