We join with you in prayer for restoration and we thank you for bringing this desire before the Lord in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find hope and healing. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
We pray with you for a healthy, genuine, consistent, mutual and mature restoration between the two individuals you mentioned, and we ask first that this restoration would be according to God's perfect will and for His glory. We know that God desires reconciliation and unity where it honors Him. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. And Ephesians 4:2-3 says with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We also want to encourage you with biblical truth concerning relationships. We believe that God designed intimate committed relationships to be between a man and a woman and to find their fulfillment in marriage as a lifelong covenant. Genesis 2:24 says Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. And Matthew 19:6 says So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. If this relationship is a courtship between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, we pray that it would be centered on Christ and moving with wisdom and purity toward godly marriage, for that is the honourable purpose of courtship. 2 Corinthians 6:14 reminds us Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity. And we encourage you that a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship should be viewed as courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to a fellow believer, not simply as a partnership to fulfill our own desires.
If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we lovingly urge repentance and a return to purity, for God's Word calls us to flee sexual immorality. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. And we believe God offers forgiveness and a fresh start when we confess and turn from sin. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. True restoration must be built on holiness, honesty and mutual selfless love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil, doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Colossians 3:14 says Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
So we pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this relationship to You. You know the hearts, the hurts, the history and the hopes of both individuals. We ask that You would bring healing where there has been hurt, forgiveness where there has been offense, and maturity where there has been immaturity. Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Give them clear and honest communication, genuine commitment, and consistency that reflects Your faithfulness. Remove any selfishness, pride, manipulation or double mindedness and replace it with humility and grace. If it is Your will for this relationship to be restored and to continue, we pray You would make it healthy and Christ centered and guide it toward a holy marriage that honors You. If it is not Your will, we pray You would give peace, closure and wisdom to follow Your path and to trust Your better plan. Lord, guard their hearts and bodies in purity and help them to seek first Your Kingdom. We trust Your promise in Joel 2:25 that You can restore and redeem what has been broken. Give them patience to wait on Your timing and courage to walk in obedience. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

When trust has been hurt, restoring love and trustworthiness takes willing participation from both people, and that rebuilding is usually gradual rather than instant.

Your prayer for restoration is heard, and we carry it before the throne of grace where alone true restoration is found. There is nothing in us which could be pointed out to the eye of Justice as a claim for restoration, though much might be remembered which would ensure our ruin, but here is our safety, the Lord Jesus has willed to save us and He stands to His purpose and decree. He restores my soul, and that restoration is available now, available at once, not by going round by Sinai but by looking to Christ Himself who is both physician and medicine to the soul.
We are reminded that Peter was down, but he was soon up again, so that his story should rather be called Peter's restoration than Peter's fall. It was brought about by two outward means, the crowing of the cock and a look from the Lord, and that look severed Peter from the crowd. He went out, though it might be cold outside he left the warmth of the fire, and he wept bitterly. So it must be with all who would know restored fellowship, there must be a severing from the crowd, a going out in repentance, and a looking to Jesus who has prayed for His own. For Jesus said, I have prayed for you, and the effect of that prayer was made apparent in the apostle's restoration. If He who is the Beloved of the Father prays for His people, shall He not win His suit with God, He will win it.
Above all we must remember that all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation, to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. He is the God of Peace and He has on His part prepared everything that is necessary for a perfect reconciliation. Therefore our first prayer for you both, for ### and for ###, is that each soul may be fully reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for apart from Him there is no peace and no lasting restoration between any two persons.
Concerning the relationship which you mention, we pray that the Lord would make it healthy and genuine and mature according to His holy will. We have taught that marriage is not a relationship of birth but of choice, and where God says I am married unto you it necessitates mutual relations. Marriage is cemented by mutual love, where there is not this mutual affection it deserves not the name of marriage, and it involves mutual confidences. This sacred union as God ordained it is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that purity of life together belongs within that covenant alone. Therefore we do not ask God to bless any path that would depart from His design, but we ask Him to conform your hearts and your relationship to His Word.
So we pray thus, that the Lord would search both hearts, grant repentance where repentance is needed, grant forgiveness where forgiveness is needed, and grant holiness in all things. If it be consistent with His will that you walk together, may He make that walk consistent and committed and pure, kept honourable before Him and leading, if it be a romantic affection, toward that holy covenant of marriage as He has defined it, or else toward a godly and brotherly love that strengthens one another in Christ. If it be not His will that you walk together in that way, may He give grace to each to go forward in purity and peace, still restored to Himself and useful in feeding His sheep and lambs.
May He who prayed for Peter pray for you, and may His look of love bring you out from every place of failure into bitter yet blessed repentance and then into abundant assurance of His mercy. And you that are restored, strengthen your brethren, aiming at their restoration to their first love and earliest zeal.
We commend you both to Him who is able to revive again what He first created, asking that by the power of the Holy Spirit this reconciliation to God and to one another, so far as it is according to His Word, may be worked at once, for His glory. In Jesus name, amen.
